🌟🌟 COUNCIL ELECTIONS 2027 - APPLICATION DEADLINE MONDAY 9TH NOVEMBER🌟🌟

With the end of the year fast approaching it is time to think forward to the 2027 Council elections.

🐴 How do I become a Council Member? 🐴
Any Shire Horse Society member may stand for Council after completing three consecutive years as a full member.

The Council currently meets three times a year. Applicants should complete the Society’s official Council application form which can be found on the website along with Council’s Terms of Reference and Code of Conduct. Applicants must return this with a photograph and a brief CV of no more than 100 words.

Please note this information will be printed in a document and sent to every member with the ballot paper to elect twelve Council members.

For clarity, all new applicants must be proposed and seconded by members of the Shire Horse Society.

All applications, including those from Council members retiring in 2027, must be emailed to [email protected] by Monday 9 November 2026.

Martin Fountain’s home-bred Shire filly Woodhouse Phenomenol was crowned Shire horse of the year champion at Horse of the Year Show. She was handled by Martin’s son Will Fountain.

The win marked the third generation to claim the HOYS title; her dam Woodhouse Phenomenon won in 2021 and her granddam Woodhouse Miss Dynamite in 2017.

The two-year-old was an orphan foal so a foster mare had to be found, making this win even more special for the Fountain family.
