Stone’s community defibrillators need regular checks, replacement pads and batteries, and maintained cabinets.

On Friday 16 October, AEDdonate’s Jamie Richards and Joe Dean plan to walk 20 miles around Stone, checking all 50 public access defibrillator sites and raising money for equipment and free training.

Their Restart a Heart Day challenge will also include school sessions teaching CPR and defibrillator awareness.

Two new sites are due to be officially opened at Coffee n’ Cones at Downs Banks and The Pheasant pub, with funding support from the challenge and AEDdonate’s Stone charity shops.

❤️ SUPPORT SUNDAY ❤️ | 3 WEEKS TO GO!

Stone, we need you...

In just 3 weeks, Jamie Richards MBE and Joe Dean will be lacing up their walking boots for the Jamie & Joe Lifesaving Challenge 2026 - a 20-mile walk around Stone with one very important mission:

❤️ Help keep Stone’s defibrillators ready to save lives.

On Friday 18th September, Jamie and Joe will:

🚶 Walk 20 miles around our hometown
❤️ Visit and check 50 public-access defibrillators
🔋 Help ensure the funding is in place to keep them rescue-ready for the next 12 months

And this isn't just about the walk.

Over the past year, AEDdonate has supported all 50 of these defibrillators - from funding and installation to maintenance, replacement pads, batteries, inspections and ongoing support.

Because putting a defibrillator on a wall is only the beginning.

It needs to be ready when someone needs it.

Last year's challenge received incredible support from the Stone community, helping us continue to protect our hometown.

This year, we're behind where we were at this point last year.

So today, on Support Sunday, we're asking Stone to get behind Jamie & Joe once again. ❤️

Jamie & Joe's Lifesaving Challenge is back for 2026!

Following the incredible support for last year's challenge, Jamie Richards MBE and Joe Dean are once again lacing up their walking boots to helpraise funds for Stone's network of public-access defibrillators.

On Friday 18th September they'll take on a 20-mile walk around Stone with one lifesaving mission.

Along the way they'll be:
🚶 Walking 20 miles
❤️ Checking 50 public-access defibrillators as they go
✅Ensuring funding is in place to support all sites for the next 12 months.

Over the past 12 months, AEDdonate has supported every one of these 50 defibrillators - whether through funding, installation, registration, maintenance, replacement pads, batteries or ongoing support. This challenge is all about helping to ensure they remain rescue-ready for the future.

Many people don't realise that maintaining these lifesaving devices costs thousands of pounds every year. Replacement pads, batteries, inspections, servicing and ongoing support all help ensure that when someone suffers a cardiac arrest, the defibrillator is ready to save a life.

If you've ever walked past one of Stone's yellow defibrillator cabinets, this fundraiser is helping make sure it's ready for the day someone needs it most.

🎖️ Stone’s Jamie Richards has been awarded an MBE in the King’s Birthday Honours.

Jamie, founder and chief executive of AEDdonate, has been recognised for services to sudden cardiac arrest awareness.

He said the honour was “incredibly humbling” and added that AEDdonate began in Stone with a simple belief that everyone should have access to a life saving defibrillator.

The recognition also reflects the staff, volunteers, trustees, supporters, partners and communities who have supported AEDdonate’s work over the years.

Congratulations Jamie.
