In May, members turned old magazines into colourful decorative bowls! Each month, we host a member-led creative activity, and members can bring along any personal project they’re working on and enjoy a relaxed, social craft evening.

Margate WI are incredibly proud to have taken part in the Standing With Giants installations this year. Alongside WI groups from across the UK, our members helped knit and crochet an incredible 110,849 poppies that will feature in the moving autumn display at Waddesdon Manor.

While we wait for the full poppy installation to be unveiled later this year, we’re also reflecting on the powerful local tribute: Standing with Giants – Ramsgate Remembers.

A striking installation placed 338 life-sized silhouettes along Ramsgate’s harbour walls — one for every thousand soldiers rescued during the 1940 Dunkirk evacuation. The display has been a poignant reminder of bravery, sacrifice, and the importance of remembrance.

At our May meeting, Margate WI members took part in choosing this year’s Speakers for Charity, and we were delighted to have three incredible local organisations nominated: STAK.Life, Windmill Community Gardens, and Beyond The Page – United Mothers.

It was a very close vote, showing just how much amazing work is happening in our community. We’re pleased to announce that our chosen charity for 2026 is STAK.Life.
