Looking for something to do with the kids, your elderly parents or anyone in between this weekend?

Our annual 🍂Falling Leaves Festival 🍁 is back on Saturday 17 October and we look forward to welcoming you to our 1,5 acre walled garden in Margate for some wood fired pizza, homemade cakes, craft/savouries and plant stalls and creative nature activities for the kids.

Free entry & dogs on leads welcome.
1pm-4pm
Weather is looking pretty ok

Proceeds support our therapeutic horticulture and creative work with adults with learning disabilities and/or mental health challenges.

🍂 POETRY IN THE AUTUMN GARDEN – POETRY WRITING WORKSHOP 🍂

Join us at The Garden Gate Project this November for a special poetry writing workshop with award-winning poet and writer Maggie Harris - an afternoon of poetry, nature and creativity inspired by the autumn garden.

Maggie is the author of 13 books and an experienced creative writing tutor and workshop facilitator. Her poetry collection I Sing to the Greenhearts has won both the Jhalak Prize for Poetry and the Guyana Prize for Literature. Her wider accolades include the Commonwealth Short Story Prize (Caribbean Winner) and the Kent University TS Eliot Poetry Prize.


🌿 Saturday 21 November | 2–4.30pm | £25

Using the autumn garden as inspiration, Maggie will guide us to slow down, notice the changing season and find words for what we see, hear and experience around us.

We’ll wander through the garden, noticing fallen leaves, wildlife, plants and the subtle signs of the garden preparing for winter, before using these observations as inspiration for our own writing.

No previous poetry or writing experience is needed. Whether you’ve never written a poem before or are already an established writer, you’ll be very welcome.

Our excellent volunteers learnt to make botanical plaster casts today 🤍

We are running the first two workshops for the public later this month and look forward to welcoming new and familiar faces to the garden for a few hours of messing around with nature 🌱

Pick Your Own is going strong and there is a lovely variety of homemade pickles, chutneys, jams and lavender hydrosols for sale in the cabin :)

🌿 Referral Agency & Prospective Client Open Day at The Garden Gate Project 🌻

We’re inviting referrers, local organisations, prospective clients, families and carers to come and see the Garden Gate project in action.

📍 The Garden Gate Project, Northdown Park, Margate, CT9 3TP

For 26 years, Garden Gate has provided specialist day care for adults with learning disabilities, autism, mental health challenges and a range of support needs.

Come and meet our team and co-workers, explore our beautiful 1.5-acre walled garden, and experience what an ordinary day at Garden Gate looks like. Activities can include gardening, woodwork, arts and crafts, nature-based projects, group activities and social time.

We currently have places available, with free trial days offered to prospective co-workers.

There’s no charge to attend the Open Day.
