Once again March Lions Club and the March Rotary Club took Santa on a tour of the streets of March throughout December. Would like to say a massive thank you to the people of March for their generous donations for December’s Santa on Tour. We hoped that you were able to come out to support and enjoy Santa on his new sleigh inspite of the weather not being too kind at times.
Thanks to your generous donations, we collected a total of £1,300 for Young People March Youth Centre. This year we are extremely pleased to say that even more funding has gone towards our chosen Charity, Young People March, as a result of the generosity of Pearls Puzzles who have match-funded part of our collection. Pearls Puzzles are a local Charity who since lockdown have been hiring out Jigsaw Puzzles to raise funds, initially for the local Foodbank and more recently for Feed Fenland. So far, since 2020, they have donated a massive £15,000+ to local Charities including the Foodbank. They are dedicated to supporting the community and anyone interested in becoming involved should message Lynn Hancock on Facebook or join their Facebook group Pearl’s Puzzle Library. This match funding brings the total donated to £1,950.
This donation will allow YPM to continue to provide a safe and cared for environment in which 7 to 25 year olds can access positive experiences to enrich and capacitate their successful transition from childhood to adulthood. They are open six days a week offering drop in sessions targeted at a wide range of different groups. Thank you to the staff and volunteers at YPM for welcoming us to present the cheque. We also collected food for March Foodbank, which was greatly received.
Alongside this, March Lions also spent the time at Sainsbury’s and Tesco with the sleigh, where we raised a further £1,000 for the club’s charitable fund. This will be used throughout the coming year to support local organisations.
