Each year, ahead of the season opening on St. Michael's Mount, the garden is quietly shared with local Special Interest Groups for a complimentary guided tour.

This year, 14 groups will visit across four days, including charities and schools connected to the St Aubyn Foundation.

It’s an opportunity to spend time in the garden as it comes into bloom, with space to explore, learn and enjoy the setting before it opens more widely.

Last weekend, colleagues from across St Aubyn Estates came together on Marazion Beach for a beach clean, joined by volunteers from the Mounts Bay Marine Group.

In warm spring sunshine, 30 people took part in a collective effort to care for the coastline, gathering several bags of litter and helping to protect this important local environment.

The morning concluded with an insightful talk on the Dunes Restoration Project, offering a deeper understanding of the work underway to support and preserve this fragile landscape.

The event also provided an opportunity to raise funds for our Charity of the Year, Children's Hospice South West.

From storm-fallen trees to a place for young minds to gather.

Some of the trees lost in the recent storms are beginning a new chapter. Selected sections are being delivered by the Mount gardening team to Marazion School, where they’ll be given a second life.

The smaller rings will become natural outdoor seats, while the larger cuts will form table tops, creating a simple woodland classroom space for pupils to learn, gather and play.

It’s a small way of turning storm damage into something positive, keeping the story of these trees rooted in the local community.

Yesterday we were delighted to welcome Sara, Headteacher of Marazion School, to the Mount.

Sara was given a tour of the gardens by Kerry, the Mount’s Learning Manager, who shared some of the work taking place across the island.

During the visit, Sara saw the impact of Storm Goretti, which brought down 119 trees in the woodland. While the damage has been significant, the fallen timber will be given a new purpose.

Some of the wood will be crafted into tables and stools for the children at Marazion School, turning the story of the storm into something lasting and positive for the local community.

A lovely example of how St. Michael's Mount, the school and the St Aubyn Foundation continue to work together to support learning and sustainability. 🌿
