💔 Milo’s Life Ended at Just 14 Weeks After Suffering Severe In*juries
Mansfield, UK — October 5, 2026

A 26-year-old man has been jailed after pleading guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to a 14-week-old XL Bully puppy named Milo.

Adam Blackwell, of no fixed address and originally from Clipstone Village, Mansfield, was sentenced to two-and-a-half years in pr*ison and disqualified from keeping animals indefinitely.
The court heard that Blackwell purchased Milo in June 2023 while living in accommodation in Mansfield.

Concerns were raised by a neighbour who reported hearing shouting followed by the sound of a dog screaming.
When an RSPCA inspector attended, Milo was found to be lame and was taken to an RSPCA veterinary surgeon for examination.
What we know so far:

📍 Location: Mansfield, Nottinghamshire
📅 Incident: June 2023
🐶 Animal: Milo, a 14-week-old XL Bully puppy
⚠️ Offence: Causing unnecessary suffering to an animal
👮 Investigation: RSPCA

⚖️ Outcome: 2½ years' immediate custody and indefinite animal-keeping ban

Veterinary examination found that Milo had suffered multiple broken ribs, fractured limbs and facial lesions. The court heard that the facial injuries were consistent with cigarette burns.
Milo had also been confined in a cage without bedding, food or water.

Blackwell later took Milo to a vet and gave explanations for the injuries that the court heard were untrue.

Due to the extent of Milo's injuries and his hopeless prognosis, he was humanely euthanised.

Blackwell also admitted separate offences involving possession of a knuckle duster and cannabis. The court heard he had previous convictions, including for Class A drug dealing.

During sentencing, Judge Stuart Rafferty KC condemned the treatment of Milo and said the puppy had been deliberately kicked and punched and left suffering.
An RSPCA spokesperson described the case as deeply upsetting and thanked the member of the public who provided video evidence.

⚖️ Legal note: Blackwell pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering to an animal and was sentenced by the court. He received two-and-a-half years' immediate custody and an indefinite disqualification from keeping animals.
