Well, if the residents want to go out, then that’s what they’ll do. Staff Matt took Simon and Lynn to the shops as Lynn said he needed a paper. What they did keep a secret is that they also bought some sweets (good job Dan didn’t find out) 😉

The lovely Paul wanted to go fishing, so our lovely Dawn took him to Vicar Water to see our Registered Manager Dave fish. We always thought Dave told us porkies when he claimed he caught big fish, but we have the photos to prove it he actually does. 🐟

Yesterday was a busy day at The Oaklands. All our residents were getting ready for the Autumn and Halloween festivities. They all handmade and decorated some pumpkins.

In the afternoon, they all enjoyed a music session with them all choosing their favourite instruments to use. Let’s say, it was a noisy afternoon! I think all staff had too much fun, because there wasn’t many photos of them enjoying the music time. 🎶 🍂 🎃

A very busy day here at The Oaklands.

We started by making slime with guidance from Emma at “For Sliming Out Loud” we mixed, stirred, stretched & pulled until we got the right texture. We blew bubbles into the slime which was a bit tricky for some.
We then made glass slime & had our photos taken behind it. It was very stretchy.

After lunch we did some amazing experimenting with dry ice. Thanks to Lab Rascals. We put small pieces of dry ice into a balloon, tied it & shook for all we were worth. Magically the balloon inflated 😮

We then had a colour changing experiment that created fog filled cups that spilled across the tables.

The bubble experiment had bubbles growing & growing much to everyone’s amazement.

There was lots of ooohs, aaahs, squeals & laughter & that included staff 🙂

Our Melanie was taken for a Birthday Afternoon Tea & a visit to the shop for treats 🙂

Yesterday our Elvis fan Alex along with Terry enjoyed an afternoon tea at Eckington Civic Centre with an Elvis tribute 🙂

Our Alex certainly hit the dance floor with confidence “showing off his grooves & moves” getting himself a round of applause from everyone 👏
