We had a lovely visit to Mansfield District Council - My Mansfield to meet Mansfield Mayor - Andy Abrahams and talk about the great work of our unit and Girlguiding Mansfield after we were awarded a grant from the Mayor 500 fund.
It was an honour to be in the same room as so many people doing incredible and inspiring work in our community.

Ava, one of our wonderful Brownies, is coming to the end of her Brownie adventure and she is working towards her Gold Award!
As part of her Gold award challenge she has decide to fundraise for our unit so we can spend money on crafts and games and she has set herself a 10 mile challenge for Easter weekend.

We had a brilliant afternoon celebrating 100 years of Thinking Day with Girlguiding Mansfield
We loved seeing the different uniforms of the past and getting stuck into crafts and activities all around the themes of 100, Friendship and our wider world!
We ended with awards and by renewing our promise 💛

This week, as part of Girlguiding Midlands Thinking Day badge, we had a go at semaphore.... With mixed results!
We spelt the alphabet and had a go sending a word across the room to our partner. Some of the words got slightly jumbled and some new words were created but we had a great fun!

Thank you to our amazing Girls, parents and carers for their incredible donation to Sherwood Forest Food Bank and helping us keep a part of our Promise to serve the community and to help other people.

At our Christmas party we played Guess the number of sweets in the jar and rather than charging we opted for Donation = a guess and our girls did not disappoint!

We were honered to take the donations along with 5th Mansfield St Peter's Guides to the team at the food bank today who took the time to explain that nothing gets wasted and anything they don't use will be shared with another local food bank!

Last week we marked Parliament Week 2025 and we're joined by 5th Mansfield St Peter's Brownies, and 5th Mansfield St Peter's Guides
We made our voter Id's that we then used when we held a vote on naming the new unit teddy! We also played Big Ben Bong-O and learn some new facts about parliament!
The evening we rounded off with a brilliant visit from Steve Yemm MP who spoke to the girls about his role as MP and did a great job answering all the girls questions which ranged from asking about his views on ping pong to asking about the plan for digital Id's! Thank you for visiting us Steve and for joining in with our traditional Cheesy thumbs up photo!

Last night was a fantastic celebration for one of our Brownies.
We were so proud to award Cadie with her Gold award! To complete her gold challenge Cadie made a 6th Mansfield Brownies family tree for us to display our members and she even provided extra leaves for future members. We celebrated by making party outfits from household materials and had cake and a fashion show!
Cadie isn't stopping there, she now on a mission to gain all the interest badges, even the new ones!!
Well done Cadie, we are so proud of you and all your hard work!!

This is a great opportunity for a taster at Hanson house! It was a taster sleepover here that was the final push for our Brown Owl to sort out getting their Going away with qualification last year!

We still have spaces for this opportunity to bring 4 girls to experience a sleepover at our wonderful Hanson House. Bookings are now open and If you have any questions, please ask🙂
