Today marks the first day of anti-knife crime awareness week 2026. On this first day of a full week of action, I think it’s important for everyone to take a moment to remember the reason we do all of the work we do, which is to save real people and real lives. Knife crime will never be about victims, perpetrators and statistics, but human beings. It’s also important to remember the families to whom anti-knife crime work is not a one week occurrence, but a lifetime commitment to an endless fight to keep their loved one’s memory alive, who should never have had to be just a memory. I hope many of us will get involved during this week and carry out some fantastic work in the hope of sparking meaningful change that will last all year round.

So we will start off the week remembering Danny, feel free to leave a comment or a memory, a few words about him or anything that reminds you of him, whether you were close friends, family, colleagues etc. It’s important to see how many people knife crime truly impacts, just by one life being taken.

As part of the knife angel’s visit to Newark, we funded an educational day for 80+ 11-19 year olds to learn about the impact of knife crime and how to remain safe from it through a workshop conducted by me, a self-defence class and stop the bleeding training. Thanks a lot to for this collaboration, we hope it had a meaningful impact!

I had another brilliant day at HMP Ranby yesterday being part of Ingeus’ ‘Build a life without a knife’ workshop that is delivered to young adults serving sentences for knife crime offences. To hear the silence in the room, with some prisoners even becoming emotional, and the majority admitting my presentation really touched them and made them think twice about their offences and future as a whole is a priceless feeling. Really proud to be leading our charity into creating such meaningful impact. Thanks so much as always to Ingeus for allowing me to be part of this!
