Established in 1975 by a group of parents who wanted to create a secure future for people with learning disabilities. People first, disability second.

Reg Charity No:263954 Acorn's riding, bowls and swimming teams compete in local events, their craft entries regularly win prizes at local shows, and many of the people at Acorn Village take up further education and regularly attend clubs and groups throughout their local area. They plan and organise holidays and are given appropriate staff support.

Some of our residents and tenants at Acorn Village enjoyed visiting houses around the village for some trick-or-treating and Halloween fun, last Friday. There were lots of smiles, spooky surprises and plenty of treats along the way 👻

Our Day Services Centre also got into the Halloween spirit with their very own Halloween Disco. Everyone had a fantastic time, with lots of laughter, dancing and spooky fun! ✨🧡

To celebrate and show our support this Dwarfism Awareness Month, our onsite café The Walled Garden Cafe served a selection of green-themed cakes! Green is the colour associated with Dwarfism Awareness Month, making it a lovely way to mark the occasion!

This October we've celebrated Dwarfism Awareness Month here at Acorn Village, an important opportunity to shine a light on dwarfism, raise awareness of the different conditions within the community, and celebrate the people and experiences behind them.

We wanted to reshare this informative video, in which our tenant Louise kindly shares her knowledge and insights on the subject with our Chief Executive, Michelle Cook.

This week, Louise also led a coffee morning in our onsite café, inviting staff and residents to come together for meaningful conversations and an open Q&A. It was a valuable opportunity to learn more about dwarfism and gain a deeper understanding of the challenges people with dwarfism may face.

We’re proud to support Dwarfism Awareness Month at Acorn Village and to continue encouraging understanding, inclusion and awareness. 💚
