On average a mosque is attacked once every five days.

These are not isolated acts of vandalism. They reveal a disturbing escalation from hateful weaponisation of symbols on mosque walls to arson, stabbings and premeditated mass-casualty plots targeting Muslims inside.

Today, we launch, ‘A Year of Division - One Mosque Attacked Every Five Days’. A Briefing on 78 Verified Attacks on Mosques, July 2025 - July 2026.

The findings reveal a disturbing escalation from hateful symbols on mosque walls to six arson attacks, two worshippers stabbed, and two premeditated mass-casualty plots.

These are only the incidents we were able to verify. The true scale of hostility directed at mosques is likely to be higher.

Mosques are places of worship, education, support and community life. An attack affects not only those present, but the wider communities who rely on them and should be able to practise their faith without fear.

Our report calls for urgent action to improve mosque security, strengthen policing engagement and ensure mosques can access essential protection without lengthy delays.

Anti-Muslim hostility is not an abstract issue. It affects how people feel in their homes, communities and everyday lives.

Speaking to ITV News, members of Muslim communities shared the hostility, fear and uncertainty they have experienced. These are different experiences, but they are not isolated.
