What a brilliant day of fun to celebrate our 150th Anniversary Summer Fair! ☀️🎉

Pupils enjoyed an afternoon packed with inflatables, games, pizza, hot dogs, ice cream and plenty of laughter with friends.

A huge thank you to our staff, Sixth Form students and volunteers who helped make the day such a success.

Special shout out to Mrs Corbett. This event simply wouldn’t have happened without your dedication and hard work behind the scenes. Thank you for making it all possible!

As we continue celebrating 150 years of St Bede’s College, today was a wonderful reminder of the joy, friendship and sense of community that have been at the heart of school life for generations.

Happy National Thank a Teacher Day ❤️

Today, we’re celebrating the teachers who make a difference every single day.

To mark National Thank a Teacher Day, pupils from across both Prep and College took the time to surprise the teachers who have inspired them, encouraged them to believe in themselves, and supported them through challenges and successes alike.

From the classroom to the sports field, from quiet words of encouragement to life-changing guidance, our teachers do so much more than teach. They help shape confidence, character and futures.

Thank you to every member of staff who cares so much for our young people. The impact you have reaches far beyond the school gates.

Happy National Thank a Teacher Day from all of us at St Bede’s College.

Yesterday, fifty Bedians took on Pen-y-ghent.

After five hours of hiking, plenty of encouragement from one another and a fair few tired legs, they reached the finish with a real sense of achievement.

Trips like these are about far more than reaching the summit. They build confidence, resilience, friendships and memories that last long after the walk is over.

A brilliant first day and a fantastic start to the trip.🐝

Students have spoken. We have listened.

Today, we are proud to introduce The Compass Programme.

A bold new vision for Sixth Form at St Bede’s College.

Built around academic excellence, personal growth and real-world readiness, The Compass Programme gives students greater independence, more opportunities and the freedom to begin shaping their own future. Students have control of their own time outside of lessons and can now enjoy a further day of smart-casual dress. In the Lower Sixth, three afternoons per week allow time for independent study, work experience, volunteering and a range of co-curricular activities; our new Discover Manchester programme also empowers students to explore their interests, develop confidence and increase their cultural capital.

Sixth Form should be about more than achieving excellent grades.

It should be about discovering yourself, your values and the kind of future you want to create.

A compass does not choose your destination.

It helps you find your direction.

Own Your Future.

Today, we were honoured to welcome back Bedian clergy for a special Mass of Thanksgiving for Vocations, celebrated on the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus as part of our 150th anniversary celebrations.

For 150 years, St Bede’s College has been a place where faith, learning and service come together. Throughout that time, the College has nurtured more than 500 vocations to the priesthood and religious life, making today’s celebration a particularly meaningful opportunity to give thanks for this remarkable legacy.

Our Chapel was filled with pupils, staff, clergy and guests, creating a wonderful sense of faith, pride and community as generations of Bedians came together to celebrate the enduring values at the heart of College life.

Following Mass, we were delighted to welcome our clergy guests to the Joseph Refectory for lunch, where they shared stories, memories and reflections on their time at St Bede’s, reconnecting with fellow Bedians and members of our school community.

As we continue to celebrate our 150th anniversary year, occasions such as these serve as a powerful reminder of the lasting impact of a Bedian education and the strength of the bonds that connect generations of former pupils.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for this special occasion.

Once a Bedian, always a Bedian.
