Carers'services
We engage with small group of carers through series of monthly workshop,based on 'Caring with Confidence'personal development activities, at our base in Whally Range.These workshop also facilitate carers' personal contact, peer support and networking,both at group meetings and in the community. We are developing a peer mentoring programme, with individual mentoring support and care
rs'personal development alongside our formal delivery programmes. We hold 3 outreach carers networking group meeting a year for 10-20 carers in the Asian residential areas in the north,east and south of the city to engage with and support the development of women Asian parent carers in their localities. Twice a year we arrange large carers'group multi-activity(knowledge,advice,networking,etc)events,each for approximately 40 carers from across the city. Carers with dual caring role(children and elderly) have a break from their caring responsibilities, as we provide day care once a month for 10 elderly Asian women,while their children are at school,at base in Whally Range. We provide a weekly one to one outreach information and advice service to over 100 carers a year,including practical and emotional support,in their home environment. We have a detabase of over 200 Asian Parent Carers and send them both our own information bulletins and forward relevant information from other carers agencies. We provide group and individual emotional support through staff and peers, via personal contact,telephone and email support, group activities and peer mentoring. We have a good relations with local carer organisations, participate in the citywide Carers'Network and undertake partnership work with local carer and community groups. We provide a single point of contact to and work with local public services and carer support organisations and agencies and are proactive in identifying hidden carers by providing them with publicity information about our services. We assist local carer service that need Asian language support to enable carers to access their and other carers'support services
