Alongside our monthly litter pick inside Navigation Park we also litter picked along Navigation Road and cut back the overgrown vegetation next to the metrolink carpark. Two tightly packed wheelie bins full of cuttings and bags full of litter. A much more pleasant walk for everyone using this highly trafficked bit of pavement!

With the help of Trafford Wildlife Volunteers 6 rusty supermarket trolleys were hauled out of the brook yesterday and should be collected by One Trafford fly tipping team today. Not only are they unsightly, they cause obstructions to the flow which increases the flooding risk during heavy rainfall events.

If you see a trolley abandoned in the park (and is accessible!) you can report via TrolleyWise and it should be collected https://www.wanzl.com/en_GB/360-degree-service/TrolleyWise

Despite the incessant rain a team of 6 volunteers turned out to learn how to coppice the hazel stools that have become very overgrown over recent years. By cutting back correctly it will benefit wildlife as well as making them more aesthetically pleasing and easier to manage in future years. We have created a couple of 'habitat piles' from the cuttings which will also become helpful wildlife assets for the park. Many thanks to Abby from One Trafford who was a very knowledgeable trainer/guide.

Thank you to everyone who came to help with our monthly litter pick yesterday. Lots of kids came to help too, but were too busy enjoying the park to come and have their pictures taken! Some very selfish people leaving large amounts of firework debris (we collected together and reported to the council to dispose of) as well as Macdonald's takeaway packaging strewn around... There's a bin very close by.... but obviously too much trouble for some people 😡. A cup of tea and a natter at the end of the productive session was most enjoyable too! See you all next month!!

We had a very productive litter pick and dock digging session this morning - all before the rains arrived! Thank you to everyone who helped. It was good to have a natter afterwards with a well deserved mug of warm Vimto! These are regular events held on the 2nd Sunday of each month. Do come and join us next month if you can!
