We’re thrilled to announce that our founder, Jillian Alexander, has been named a finalist for the Enterprise Vision Awards 2026 in the Not for Profit category⭐️

Since its founding in 2023, .bou.nd has been transforming the lives of modern slavery survivors in Manchester. Inspired by Jillian’s experience as a first responder, Unbound’s Transformational Programme empowers survivors to move beyond victimhood and become architects of their own futures. Through tailored coaching, skills development, and personal empowerment, dozens of survivors have already achieved lasting impact.

Over the next three years, Unbound plans to support at least 200 survivors annually, expanding its programme across Manchester with new coaches, workshops, and partnerships; creating a scalable, survivor-centered model for sustainable change through the Unbound Framework.

Jillian’s visionary leadership combines legal expertise, frontline experience, and a deep commitment to justice. Her work through Unbound has already been recognised locally and nationally for its innovation and measurable outcomes, and this award nomination further highlights the transformative impact of women-led social enterprises.

Please join us in congratulating Jillian on this incredible achievement! Her dedication proves that with the right support, survivors can reclaim their power and shape their own stories💛✨

How it Works

Reporting:
First responders can report concerns about a potential victim to the NRM by completing an online referral form or using a prompt sheet.

Assessment:
The government’s Single Competent Authority (SCA) within the Home Office reviews each NRM case.
Reasonable grounds decision:

The SCA determines within 5 days if there are “reasonable grounds” to believe the person is a victim of modern slavery.
Reflection period:

If the SCA finds reasonable grounds, the person receives a 45-day reflection period during which they can access support and make decisions about their future.

Kitchen Equipment Pickup 💛

We are beyond grateful for the amazing experience we had with our recent kitchen equipment pickup 🙏 Thanks to the dedication and hard work of our incredible volunteers, we were able to gather and transport essential kitchen equipment to those in need; making a real difference in the lives of modern slavery survivors.

Through the Unbound Programme, we are committed to empowering and supporting those who have experienced trauma, helping them rebuild their lives with dignity and hope. This initiative aligns beautifully with our mission: to provide survivors with the tools and resources they need to regain independence and stability.

The outpouring of support from our volunteers truly reflects the spirit of community and kindness that drives our work. Every plate, every utensil, and every piece of equipment gathered isn’t just a donation; it’s a step toward a brighter future for the survivors we work with. 💫

Stay tuned for more updates on how we continue to support the journeys of those working toward a life beyond slavery. 🌟

✨ MEET OUR FOUNDER ✨

Meet Jillian: the visionary behind the Unbound Programme.

Jillian is a wife, mother, solicitor, author, and passionate modern slavery advocate dedicated to empowering survivors and driving meaningful change. As Founder and CEO of the Unbound Programme, she developed the Unbound Framework which is a holistic, coaching-led approach designed to support survivors of modern slavery as they rebuild their lives with confidence, dignity, and purpose.

The Unbound Framework is built on five transformational pillars:
🔑 Unlock – recognising potential and opening the door to new possibilities
🧠 Unlearn – challenging limiting beliefs and reclaiming identity
🌱 Unfold – rediscovering strengths and personal growth
💫 Uplift – building confidence, resilience, and community
🕊 UNBOUND – stepping fully into freedom and a thriving future

Academically accomplished, Jillian has earned five degrees, bringing together expertise in law, justice, and human rights:
🎓 BSc Sociology
🎓 MSc Criminology & Criminal Justice
🎓 MA Human Rights
🎓 LLB (Law)
🎓 Legal Practice Course (LPC)

She is also the author of the Unbound Modern Slavery Handbook and The Unbound Journal, a programme companion designed to guide survivors through their healing and empowerment journey.

Beyond her professional work, Jillian is also a past national pageant titleholder, who intentionally used her platform to raise awareness about modern slavery, while including the pageant community and collaborating with organisations working to end exploitation.

Through the Unbound Programme, Jillian’s mission is simple yet powerful - helping survivors move from surviving to truly living: empowered, restored, and UNBOUND.

We were grateful to attend the insightful 1-Day Gambling Harms Training and Collaborative Co-design Session, which offered valuable insights into the complex nature of gambling harm and its impact on individuals and communities. The session emphasized the importance and the need for collaborative, community-driven solutions. By learning from experts and sharing ideas with a diverse group of participants, we gained practical strategies that can be applied to help not only survivors of modern slavery but also the broader community. The knowledge and tools from this session will support our ongoing efforts to address harm in all its forms, empowering individuals to overcome vulnerabilities and break free from cycles of exploitation.

This training is particularly relevant to the work of the Unbound Programme, where we support survivors of modern slavery in rebuilding their lives. Much like gambling addiction, modern slavery often involves deep psychological and financial harm that can be difficult to overcome without the right support. The collaborative insights from the session will enable us to create more effective, survivor-centered interventions that address both immediate needs and long-term recovery. Special thanks to for organizing this event, as it provided an invaluable opportunity to learn, connect, and develop solutions that will benefit both survivors and the Manchester community at large.
