Today marks a huge milestone as we launch the Warrington Money Advice Referral Tool (MART), our first outside of Manchester.

The MART is a easy-to-use practical tool that is created to help organisations better support people facing financial hardship by making financial support easier to access. From GP surgeries and schools to hospitals and community groups, MART helps frontline staff to signpost and refer individuals to relevant financial guidance, benefits support and local services.

We’re proud to bring this support to Warrington in collaboration with Warrington Borough Council and the Warrington VCSE sector. Excited to see the impact it will have in the community!

At Resolve Poverty, we believe local action on poverty is crucial, and our latest research shows there is still a long way to go.

Our new report maps strategic local action on poverty across England and finds:

📍 Just 16% of councils currently have an anti-poverty strategy in place
📍 A further 19% plan to introduce one within the next year
📍 Only 10% have formally adopted the socio-economic duty

Councils play a critical role in preventing and reducing poverty, but action remains uneven. That’s why we’re urging government to further empower local authorities and introduce a statutory requirement for all councils to develop well-resourced anti-poverty strategies.

Across the UK, millions are forced to decide which essentials they can afford to go without. Behind these numbers are people whose lived experiences can shape stronger, fairer policies and practices.

Join us for our upcoming “Valuing Lived Experience” training to learn how to centre lived experience in your work and help drive change.

The way poverty is measured in the UK just changed and if you work with poverty data, you need to know about it.

In March 2026, the Department for Work and Pensions - DWP released new official statistics using a fundamentally different method. For the first time, benefit records have been linked directly to survey responses, giving us a more accurate picture of household incomes than ever before.

What this means for professionals
→ You can no longer directly compare new poverty figures with data from before 2021/22
→ Data literacy has never been more important for building effective responses to poverty

This is exactly why we designed our Tackling Poverty with Data training, to give professionals the skills to find poverty data, understand its limitations, and use it to building evidence-led responses to poverty in their community.

Our next session will be taking place online on Thursday 4th June, you can find out more and book here:

Together with National Education Union and No Child Left Behind we helped secure Free School Meals for 500,000+ more children on Universal Credit.

A massive step in the right direction. But new polling today shows too many children and parents will still be left behind. Over half of parents who won’t get this support say it would ease their family finances.

We stand proudly with a coalition of 350+ civil society groups calling on the Prime Minister to - add your name bit.ly/deliverthedinners
