🖤 💚 ❤️ Celebrating Black History Month 2026 ❤️ 💚 🖤

This October, Arawak Walton Housing Association is proud to celebrate Black History Month 2026, marking its 39th anniversary and embracing this years powerful theme: "Honouring Our Communities"

This theme is particularly meaningful to us as it reflects the very foundations of our organisation. Arawak Housing Association was created thanks to the vision of the inspirational Louise DaCocodia, who, alongside a group of friends, was passionate about meeting the housing needs of the maturing African Caribbean community. Their commitment, determination and community spirit helped create a lasting legacy that continues to make a positive difference today.

As we celebrate Black History Month, we honour the achievements, contributions, cultures and histories of Black communities, while recognising the individuals whose vision and dedication have helped shape stronger, more inclusive communities for future generations.

At Arawak Walton, we remain committed to promoting equality, inclusion and opportunity, and we are proud to celebrate the rich heritage that continues to inspire our work.

Together, lets honour our communities, celebrate our history and build a brighter future for all.

📢 Celebrating National Older Persons Day 2026!

Today, the Arawak Walton Housing Association's Tenant Engagement Officer had a fantastic time attending the S4B National Older Persons Day event at Brunswick Village.
It was wonderful to meet a group of fabulous ladies from Older Black Africans Day Opportunities, who brought so much energy, warmth and enthusiasm to the day.
We were delighted that they loved our goodie bags and enjoyed chatting with everyone who stopped by our stall.

Events like these are a great opportunity to celebrate older people, promote community connections, and recognise the valuable contribution they make to our communities every day.
