Travel is not just moving from one place to another.

It is a journey to see: to see so that we reflect, to reflect so that we take lessons, and to return to Allah SWT.

“Say: travel through the land and observe how He began creation...” (Surah al-Ankabut, 29:20)

May our journey through this blessed land be filled with barakah, and may it leave an impact on ourselves and on the Ummah.

Over the course of 3 days in Lebanon, we manage to complete 21 home-visits, where orphans under Global Hayat’s sponsorship reside.

The Life Sponsorship by Global Hayat provides approximately MYR200(GBP40) monthly to an orphan who has lost his/her father or both parents, and is usually cared for by their closest relative. We learnt that in many instances, this sponsorship has become the sole income to support whole families.

The laws and bureaucracy in Lebanon make securing jobs within the government impossible. For many Palestinian refugees, they turn to informal, low-paying, manual labour jobs to support their family. These jobs are physical in nature, suited for men.

You can imagine how with the loss of a father, the primary breadwinner of the family, one can fall quickly into deep poverty.

But it is also with hope that we share, a sponsorship of as low as MYR200/£40 monthly to an orphan can literally mean the difference between having food on the table or not.

For those eager to help them, please visit Global Hayat’s website and look into “Tajaan Hayat"

What if the things we view as a given are actually blessing few get to experience?

Studying in the UK.
Having a future to look forward to.
Having the freedom to learn, move, speak and dream.

Here in Sham, meeting Palestinian and Syrian refugees made me ponder:

‘Dimanakah sebenarnya syukur kita?’

Meet HAQQ Initiative’s Ground Team for Misi Hayat Syam

What makes this mission especially meaningful is that the majority of our volunteers are students; young people who chose to spend their time, energy and summer serving communities far from home.

From flights to ground expenses, our volunteers have covered their own costs, so that the funds raised can be directed towards what matters most: providing aid to Palestinian refugees in Syria and Lebanon.

This mission was never about what we could do for them alone. It was about learning from their realities, building genuine connections, and doing our part to return what is rightfully theirs.

Over the coming days, we’ll be sharing our journey on the ground, the people we met, the stories we heard, the aid delivered, and the realities of Palestinian refugees that deserve to be seen and remembered.

This is Misi Hayat Syam.
And this is the team entrusted to carry it out.

Follow along as we bring you the mission, from the ground.

Malaysia tanah airku, tanah tumpah darahku.

Presenting our student-led humanitarian projects, reaching communities in need across Peninsular Malaysia, Sabah & Sarawak, Aceh, and Syria.

This summer, our teams will be delivering essential aid to new Muslims (reverts), children, indigenous and stateless communities, refugees, and vulnerable families, while striving to be ambassadors of our deen through compassion and service.

Alongside meeting basic needs, we will be reciting the Qur’an, teaching the stories of the Prophets, introducing the Pillars of Islam and the foundations of faith, and sharing the beauty of Islam with our brothers and sisters in a meaningful and accessible way.

Our Summer Humanitarian Initiative begins this Friday. We humbly ask for your du’as for safe travels, sincerity in our efforts, and that Allah accepts every act of service and makes it a source of lasting benefit.

Follow our journey over the coming weeks as we share stories, reflections, and moments from all 7 humanitarian projects
