Fantastic to see the Fylde Coast Stroke Recovery Service delivering a training session for staff at Fleetwood's Belsfield Care Home.

The training had been arranged following a conversation with one of the nurses at Belsfield House, which had taken place during an initial visit with one of their residents.

The nurse welcomed additional information about stroke and felt that staff would benefit from further education around stroke recognition and management.

The session was well received, and we were pleased to be able to provide the team with some practical guidance and information.

“The session was very informative and all staff really enjoyed it. We've gained more knowledge!”

More sessions are now in the pipeline too!

A huge thank you to Jenna and Chelsie who organised another fantastic Memorial Day in Barrow in Furness for Azza Samms - Family and Friends Football games, Race Afternoon and a Disco raising an amazing £2579.06 bringing their total raised over the years for Stroke Association to nearly £10,000!

Special thanks to Unite the Union Barrow Branch. The Unite representatives we particularly want to acknowledge are David Stowell, Barrow Branch Chairman and Stuart Klosinski Branch Secretary.

If you saw tonight’s episode of Coronation Street, you would have seen that Betsy, played by Sydney Martin, had two life-changing strokes.

Stroke can happen to anyone of any age at any time, including young people like Betsy, and the impact is immediate and devastating.

We’ve been working closely with Sydney and the Coronation Street production team to offer our guidance and direction on Betsy’s stroke and recovery journey.

As it continues to develop in the next few weeks, Betsy’s storyline will show how difficult surviving a stroke can be as she experiences the physical, emotional, and psychological challenges of recovery.

We wanted to say a huge thank you to Esme and her mum Lyns, who have raised an incredible £2,336 for the Stroke Association

Esme has just finished a year of fundraising as the Comberbach Village Rose Queen. Throughout the year Esme organised a number of fundraising events, including a cake sale and a mini Christmas market event.

On Saturday we went along to the village fete to receive the cheque, where Esme gave a brilliant speech as she handed over the reigns to the next Rose Queen.

Esme chose to support us because her mum, Lyns, suffered a stroke aged 42 which has impacted all of their lives.
