Imani The Imani Community Association (ICA) is a success story. It is a testament to the
commitment, inte

The ICA evolved from the Martial Arts Temple System (MATS) which was formed
in early 1978 by Chet Alexander and Joe Wray to teach their own style of martial arts. There was a particular emphasis on self-discipline, self-respect, confidence
and positive attitude towards others. Joe Wray currently spearheads all operations of the Imani Community project. During MATS early years working with young p

eople and their families, it
became clear to us that we were more than just a sports club; the combination
of the martial arts philosophy and the social conscience of the leading members
gave MATS a broader social outlook. This social outlook has developed into the
Imani Community Association, a charitable project which has adopted a
‘mission statement’ that upholds the premise of our existence.
