Coming to you a day earlier than the usual 3rd Tuesday, Refried Beats is back on Monday 19th October, as a one-off. 🎶

Refried Beats is the monthly jam of improvised grooves exploring Cumbia/Timba/Dub/Jazz. Join us when a roster of top Manchester musicians takes to the Carlton Club stage and provides some superb sounds for all to enjoy. 🎸🪘 It's free entry or pay as you feel to support these local artists. 🫶

Join us on the 18th of October or every third Sunday each month for the Manchester Appalachian Old-Time & Folk Session at the Carlton Club 🎶. This month will take place in the Green Room, with the Manchester Blues Festival taking place across the day & night in the main room. Why not come down for both? 🙌

Old-Time is the precursor to Bluegrass - it has a driving, trance-like quality and is the original square-dance music. It's typically played acoustically on fiddle, banjo, double bass, and guitar. 🪕

The session is an open and free environment for people to bring songs and tunes from the old American South 🙌. If you're playing, singing, or just listening, you're more than welcome 💛 this Sunday from 3 til' 6pm, free entry.

The much-loved Carlton Club Karaoke 🎤 is back on Friday, October 16th, and we will be fundraising to support Elijah on his healing journey with osteosarcoma (bone cancer). ❤️ Earlier this year, Deranged Nights put on a great night here for the same cause, and we know this will be a belter too! 🙌

Manchester Blues Festival returns for 2026 with a full day of outstanding live music celebrating the rich heritage and evolving future of the blues. Sunday the 18th of October, from 1:45pm til' late! 🤩 🎶

Established in 2024, the festival brings together acclaimed international artists and some of the North West's finest musicians for an all-day programme of live performances in the welcoming surroundings of The Carlton Club.

This year's line-up features Gary Cain (Canada/USA), Will Tang Clan, Paul Farr Blues Project, Jon Coley, Franny Eubank, Southpaw Slim, Amanda Jane Heywood, Canter Semper, plus more artists to be announced.

From traditional acoustic blues to contemporary blues, rock, jazz and roots-inspired performances, Manchester Blues Festival showcases the diversity and enduring influence of one of music's most important genres.

Robert Ian McNabb was born in Liverpool on November 3rd 1960. An only child - the son of Patricia and Robert. He first picked up a guitar at the age of 12 after seeing Marc Bolan on Top Of The Pops. Ian joined his first band, Young World, at the age of 15; They played the working men’s club circuit for a couple of years before Ian joined another band, City Lights. This band again gigged extensively around the North of England cabaret circuit, but Ian grew tired of playing other people's songs and decided that cabaret was not the way forward for him. He had always written songs for fun, but now he began to take it seriously. 🎸
