At Connect Talent CIO, volunteers are an important part of how we support people across our community to build digital confidence, explore AI, develop practical skills and stay connected.
We’re currently welcoming people who would like to get involved as Digital Champions, AI & Skills Helpers, Events & Music volunteers, or Admin & Outreach volunteers.

You don’t need to be a technical expert. If you’re patient, approachable and comfortable using a phone or computer, we’ll provide the training and support you need.

In return, you can gain practical experience, strengthen your CV, develop digital and AI skills, meet new people and contribute to work that has a real community impact.

Huge update from the UK Home Secretary! 🇬🇧✨

Safe and legal routes are officially expanding, and two major opportunities are on the table:

🔹 Community Sponsorship Route: Giving local communities and organisations the power to step up and host refugees directly.
🔹 Student Sponsorship Route: Opening the door for UK universities to welcome and sponsor international talent.

Applications open from next month for registered charities and non-profits to become sponsors.

What really separates an idea from a scalable, lasting business?

Reflecting on our workshop at St James's House in Salford, our 8th-floor training suite buzzed with local entrepreneurs, founders, and community partners as they dove deep into "Entrepreneurial Mindset: Building a Scalable Business."

Tobi Owoeye (CEO, Kyrios Global Resources) organised the session, and Connect Talent CIO hosted it in partnership with Connect Institute; the afternoon went far beyond theory to tackle real operational hurdles.

Here are four big takeaways from the room:

1️⃣ Entrepreneurship is a practice, not a title: "It is not simply wanting to own a business. It is a way of seeing, deciding, and acting."

2️⃣ Avoid the founder bottleneck: If you stepped away for 30 days, would your business slow down or grow? Growth requires delegating authority and building leaders.

3️⃣ Digital credibility comes first: If customers have never met you, your digital setup must prove reliability before they commit funds.

4️⃣ Creative agility wins: Consumer attention is constantly shifting. Stay close to your audience and test before you spend.

What a day! Yesterday we wrapped up our Essential Digital Skills Training student graduation and employability event at St James's House in Salford, and the energy in the room was truly inspiring.

We at Connect Talent CIO are deeply honoured to announce that we have been awarded funding through the UK Home Office Windrush Community Engagement Fund (CEF) 2026-2027. We are incredibly proud to be one of the organisations selected nationwide for this vital work.

Since our establishment, our core mission in Salford has been to reduce social, digital, and employment exclusion. For nearly a decade, we have been dedicated to supporting Black, Asian, and minority ethnic communities.

This new funding allows us to expand our core mission into a critical area of social justice. No one should suffer because they were unable to prove their legal right to live in the UK. Through this project, we will combine our extensive community engagement experience with dedicated Windrush support. Our goal is to ensure that eligible individuals and families understand the Windrush Scheme and Windrush Compensation Scheme, helping them overcome barriers, address misinformation, and successfully apply for the compensation they rightfully deserve.
