Manchester Mind listen to and respect people who access our services; we value lived experience and place people at the centre of service delivery and development. We support people with mental health issues to improve their well-being and to reach their full potential, so they can live more successfully in their communities. This week, we’ve talked about action.

For yourself.
For someone else.
For all of us.

Because good mental health isn’t built alone - it’s something we create together.

Taking action for all of us can also mean supporting the services that make help possible.

Your support helps:
- Someone access support earlier
- Communities feel less alone
- Prevent mental health challenges from reaching crisis point

If you’re able to, one action this week could be making a donation.

Together, small actions will lead to change.

Mental Health Awareness Week is a reminder that action in the workplace starts at every level.

Not just in policies but in how we show up, every day.

For employers and leaders, action can look like:
• Setting realistic expectations around workload and availability
• Modelling healthy boundaries (and actually taking breaks)
• Creating a culture where it feels safe to say “I’m struggling”
• Prioritising wellbeing alongside performance

For colleagues, action might look like:
• Checking in with each otherand really listening
• Respecting boundaries and time offline
• Making space for honest conversations
• Building a sense of community, not just productivity

Because strong workplace wellbeing isn’t built by one initiative,
it’s built through consistent, collective action.

And sometimes, taking action also means recognising when external support could help.

For teams looking to build confidence, understanding, and practical skills around mental health, training can be a meaningful next step.

This years theme being action doesnt have to mean climbing Kilimanjaro, swimming the channel or hosting the biggest bake sale in the UK. It can be little steps - its about each other.

When we do something kind for someone else, our brains release endorphins - helping boost mood and reduce stress.

That action can be small:
🚪 Holding the door open
🙂 Sharing a smile
💬 Checking in with someone
☕ Making a drink for a colleague

These moments build connection and remind us we’re not alone.

Whats one action that you can do, or have done today?

This Mental Health Awareness Week, we’re focusing on one simple idea: action.

Because while awareness matters, real change happens when we take action, for ourselves, for someone else, and for all of us.

Today, we’re starting with you.

Action for yourself doesn’t have to be big.

It might look like:
💧 Drinking water
🚶 Stepping outside
🧠 Noticing how you’re really feeling
⏸️ Taking a proper break

Small actions can help us feel more in control, more hopeful, and less overwhelmed.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by and spoke with us at our stands during Manchester Tech Week across DTX/UTX and CEL/IRB2B.

We had some genuinely great conversations about mental health, workplace wellbeing, and the role we can all play in creating supportive environments. It was encouraging to connect with so many people who care about making a difference.

If we spoke and you’d like to continue the conversation, or if you’re interested in booking training for your team, we’d love to hear from you:
📩 [email protected]

And of course, a big thank you to the organisers for bringing together such a thoughtful and impactful event.💙

We've got a lot on our mind right now and we're not the only ones.

With Mental Health Awareness Week coming up, and this year’s theme being Action, it feels like a good moment to pause and ask: what can we actually do when everything feels a bit too much?

Action doesn’t have to be big or life-changing. It can look like:
• Reaching out to someone you trust and saying “I’m not okay”
• Taking 10 minutes to step outside and breathe
• Writing everything down just to get it out of your head
• Setting one small, manageable goal for the day
• Giving yourself permission to rest without guilt

Sometimes the most powerful action is simply not carrying it all alone.

If you’ve got a lot on your mind right now - this is your reminder that you don’t have to hold it all in. 💙
