Spring in Your Step 🌿📸

We’re heading out for our next Manchester Photography Collective photowalk, this time focusing on the feel of spring in the city.

Think longer days, warm light, long shadows, and everyday moments that feel a bit more alive. You can keep it simple with street scenes, movement, and colour, or take it somewhere more creative. It’s all about noticing what’s around you and giving it a go.

📍 Village Hall, Deansgate Mews🕐 1:00pm (we’ll start with a short intro and chat before heading out)

We’ll keep things relaxed, with space to experiment, meet people, and try something new, whatever your level.

Come along if you fancy a wander with a camera or phone and some good company.

We’re excited to start MPC artists talks for 2026 with this Sunday.

Lee will be speaking about his journey into photography, the creation of MPC, and what it’s taken to build a community that’s brought over 1,000 people together around the medium.

He’ll also be sharing the story behind Victorious Voices () and how the project started as an idea, how it’s grown into a national touring exhibition, and the realities of creating work that sits between the personal and the public.

This will be a look at the process behind the work, what’s worked, what hasn’t, and what it takes to build something meaningful over time.

If you’re developing your own voice or thinking about starting your own project with photography, this will be a valuable session.

A little reminder to catch the final weeks of ‘Where We Move Together’ at ✨

Over the past few weeks, we’ve been piecing together footage from conversations with photographers in our community who are exhibiting in the show, talking about their work, what drives them, and what it means to be part of something shared 🫶

Huge thanks to the talented Matt (MatthewCole64 on Flickr) for helping us capture it all, from the set-up to the moments in conversation 🎥

Don’t miss your chance to experience it in person before it closes 📸 If something speaks to you, the works on display are available to purchase, with artist details included alongside each piece.

Today’s member showcase is from the talented 📸✨Here’s what they have to say:

Tell us a bit about yourself and your background:
Mum to 3 teens, 3 cats, wife to 1 husband. I work in Learning and Development and have lived in the North for longer than I did in London, where I was born! Been playing with a camera for many years, yet still an amateur and learning everyday!

What kind of photography do you focus on or enjoy creating the most?
I enjoy urban living and finding shots amongst the people and structures which make up our towns and cities!

What does being a part of MPC mean to you?
I love meeting and spending time with people who have the same passion for photography. I enjoy seeing the places we visit through other eyes. It helps me to think differently about what I am shooting. The group is diverse (which is rare in photography groups that are often male dominated) and feels completely inclusive!

Who & what inspires you?
Creative people and weekly challenges!

Join us this Saturday for the next MPC photowalk to explore a theme of Signs of Change and a chance to slow down and notice the quiet moments of transition happening all around us in the city.

Seasons turn, buildings appear and disappear, fashions evolve- Spring is a time of change: Some are bold and obvious, while others are subtle, the kind you only notice when you take the time to really look.

On this walk we’ll explore the idea of transition across Manchester.

We’ll move at a thoughtful pace with plenty of room to experiment, observe, and try something different, whether that’s how you shoot in the moment or how you choose to interpret the theme later when editing your images.

Come along with your camera, curiosity, and an open eye.

Today’s member showcase is from the Talented Chloe 📸✨Here’s what Chloe has to say in their own words:

I’m a documentary photographer based in Liverpool, working with independent brands, cultural organisations, and events across the UK. My work focuses on honest, documentary-style photography that reflects people, process, and atmosphere, created with care and an understanding of how images are used across digital, social, and print.

My personal practice centres around crowd dynamics and the undercurrent of emotion in shared spaces. Reoccurring themes explore how identity is expressed, obscured or reshaped in communal settings. I’m drawn to the charged spaces between people, immediacy of emotion and how visual culture constructs meaning and influences perception.

The north west is an incredible hub for creatives, I love seeing everyone’s work and discussing each other practice - any platform that supports this is great in my books.

Collective action and community inspires me, my work both professionally and personally is centred around people coming together to create or experience something.

A massive thank you to everyone who joined us for last Saturday’s photo walk 📸We had a record turnout for MPC with over 50 people, and it was honestly brilliant to see so many familiar faces alongside lots of lovely new ones.

We kicked things off with a relaxed stroll around Spinningfields, before heading over to our exhibition at

The rain definitely tried its best to slow us down ☔️ but it didn’t stop our members from getting stuck in and coming away with some great shots.

Thanks again to everyone who came along and helped make it such a great afternoon. We’re looking forward to the next walk on 14th March see you then!

Join us this Saturday for the next MPC photo walk! We will be meeting at Village Hall on Deansgate Mews at 1pm before heading around Castlefield, then onto the MPC × Marriott V&A exhibition at &a to see the work on display and spend time around photography in a different context.

This post features a video by Matt Cole, capturing the energy of the group out in the field and at our opening last week. Massive thanks to Matt for putting it together and documenting what we’re building. It’s easy to forget how powerful collective momentum looks until you see it from a new perspective.

If you’ve been thinking about joining a walk, this is your invitation. You don’t need to be a professional, you don’t need the perfect gear. You just need curiosity and the courage to show up! 📸
