Receiving Universal Credit? You could be eligible for free school meals.

From September 2026, all families receiving Universal Credit will be eligible for free school meals. This change will apply from the 2026/27 school year and gives schools time to prepare for the increased number of meals they will need to provide.
If you receive Universal Credit, it's important to remember that you will still need to apply for free school meals through your local authority or your child's school, as eligibility is not applied automatically.
Free school meals can help families reduce household costs and ensure children receive a healthy meal during the school day.

Number One Café in Darwen has secured a £9,998.31 grant from the Community Catalyst Capacity Building Grants fund, with support from Great Places.

🌼 Aldersgate Court is looking brighter and more colourful than ever thanks to the dedication of resident Ronald Lewis and the support of fellow customers and Great Places colleagues.
With support from our Community Investment Fund, Ronald led a fantastic project to transform the scheme's communal gardens into welcoming spaces filled with colour, wildlife-friendly planting and year-round interest. 🌺🌿
The project shows the positive impact that can be achieved when customers and Great Places work together to improve shared spaces and strengthen communities.
