Sands United FC Manchester 1 - 5 Mersey Mindset FC

Not the result we were looking for in our first game of the Northwest Charity League but a decent test against a good side played in good spirit.

Plenty of endeavour from us but we ultimately couldn’t recover from conceding two goals either side of half time.

Huge thanks to our opponents for making the trip and good luck for the rest of the season.

Our MOTM today was Niall Melarkey; won everything at the back, used the ball well going forward and an assured presence on a testing afternoon.

In addition to today’s tournament, we are proud to be taking a massive step in the short history of SUFC Manchester as we play our first game in the Northwest Charity League tomorrow. We’re really excited for this venture, not only for the opportunities it provides us to compete for our little ones but also to share the pitch with other causes, some of which are already friends, and others we’re looking forward to meeting.
