Congo Children Trust

Congo Children Trust Congo Children Trust is a charity registered in England and Wales, raising awareness and funds for our partner, Kimbilio.

Kimbilio, is based in Lubumbashi and runs four homes and a day centre for street children in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo. Kimbilio also runs a primary school and vocational schools for sewing and for hairdressing and nails. Since 2009 Kimbilio has been working directly with children living on the city’s streets, helping them to overcome their personal challenges and begin to build a f

uture with hope. Kimbilio seeks to reunite children with their families wherever possible and appropriate, which is a difficult task in a country as vast as Congo, with poor infrastructure and widespread poverty. Congo Children Trust is run by a small team of volunteers and administered by six trustees and is based at St Margaret's Centre, Brantingham Road, Manchester, M21 0TT

Exciting progress at Kimbilio: the roof is now starting to go on the new vocational college. It is a simple but powerful milestone — a building taking shape that will one day be filled with learning, encouragement and opportunity for young people who have already overcome so much. For former street-connected children in DRC, where education is often beyond a family’s reach and many children have to begin working at a very young age simply to survive, vocational training can open the door to skills, confidence and a more secure future. Thank you to everyone whose support is helping turn this vision into something real, practical and life-changing.🥳🇨🇩

Kimbilio Administrator Rodrigue Katina reflects on his participation in DRC Mining Week in today's blog post.

Lubumbashi, where Kimbilio is based, is one of the country’s most important economic centers, a gateway to the copper and cobalt belt, and a city where national questions often meet local realities. It is therefore the logical host city each year for DRC Mining Week, an important conference and ex...

We're delighted to share that the container we sent from Liverpool on the 8th May arrived at Kimbilio today!

It journyed by sea from Liverpool to Holland them on to Port Said in Egypt before traveling through the Suez Canal to Dar es Salaam in Tanzania. It was then transported by lorry to Zambia and after a long wait in a lorry queue made it's way over to Congo at the weekend and arrived at Kimbilio this morning where it was offloaded.

It is packed full of classroom furniture, laptops, PC's, sewing machines, hair dressing training workshop chairs, refurbished, tools, tables, children's toys, clothes, bikes and much much more! Thanks to everyone for making it happen!

It will assist us in furnishing our Kimbilio technical college, currently under construction.

Less than 24 hours until the Global Giving bonus day!!

We would be delighted if you could donate us tomorrow.

Tomorrow, your donation will go further and will ensure we're able to continue to provide food and vital care for children living on the streets in D.R.Congo. These appeals have a real impact on our providing security and stability for the many vulnerable children we're working with through Kimbilio.

Any donation between $100 and $1500 from 3pm (BST) onwards for 24 hours will recieve proportional funding from the incentive funding pot and potentially help us qualify for a bonus prize.

Please consider supporting us and do share. We'll share the giving link tomorrow at 3pm.

Many, many thanks to you all...😘
