⭐️VOLUNTEERS WEEK⭐️

This week is an opportunity to celebrate and thank the wonderful staff team at 1099!

Nothing this squadron does would be possible, from planning fun and engaging events to parade night activities, their unwavering commitment and dedication says it all! Without them, cadets would not be able to grow and achieve their highest potential.

Every staff member deserves a massive thank you for their hard work, it is truly ‘second to none’.

We would also like to thank the Civilian Welfare Committee and the Padre, your tireless work supporting the squadron is very much appreciated!

We would like to take a moment thank the wider Wing, this year has been difficult to say the least with the temporary squadron closures, however your expert planning and innovative ideas helped the cadets to continuously strive for excellence!

THANK YOU!!

✨ Yesterday, members of 1099 (Worsley) Sqn were honoured to attend the Ceremonial Mayor of Salford’s Civic Sunday service ✨

The day began with a parade through Worsley, proudly led by our very own squadron band 🥁🎺An incredible display of talent and professionalism. Our main squad was also joined by cadets from 1938 (Salford City & Eccles) Sqn, with both squadron banners flying proudly throughout the parade. The Army and Sea Cadets were also in attendance, along with many other organisations and dignitaries.

The parade led to St Mark’s Church, where we took part in a service to support the newly appointed Ceremonial Mayor, Councillor Robin Garrido.

Following the service, we enjoyed food and refreshments, giving us a fantastic opportunity to connect with fellow community groups and guests attending the occasion 🤝

It was a privilege to be part of such a wonderful celebration of Salford’s community spirit and civic traditions. Our band received high praise from all in attendance, and we couldn’t be prouder of every cadet who took part 👌

👏 Well done, everyone!

🔧 Hands on learning at its best! 🔧

This weekend, 7 of our cadets joined forces with 7 Army Cadets for an incredible Basic Mechanics Day delivered by 127 Coy REME 🚛⚙️

From carrying out initial vehicle checks, to getting up close with a range of engines, touring workshops, and exploring the vehicles used daily, our cadets got a true insight into life in the REME.

The experience didn’t stop there… they also learned what it’s like to serve in this vital role, gaining knowledge and skills that go far beyond the classroom 💡

Opportunities like this are what make being part of RAFAC so special — unforgettable, hands-on, and inspiring experiences 👏

A huge thank you to the staff from 127 Coy REME, ACF, and our own 1099 team for making this happen 🙌

🏆 GMW Athletics Champions 2026 🏆

🥇 1st Place Overall

Yesterday, 19 of our incredible cadets competed in the 2026 GMW Athletics Competition. A full day of long jump, 1500m, and everything in between!

Every single cadet showed outstanding effort, determination, and teamwork throughout the day. Well done to all who took part!

A massive congratulations to everyone who achieved medals, your hard work truly paid off! 👏 1099 has a strong sporting history, and we are incredibly proud to continue that legacy.

A huge thank you goes to Cdt FS Kanat, our Sports Officer and Team Manager, for the amazing organisation and preparation leading up to and during the event. Legend 💪

Thank you also to CI Kalis and Cdt FS Morris for being yesterday’s squadron cheerleaders, and to Fg Off Kalis for giving up her day to support as a track events timekeeper. 📣⏱️

As always, events like this would not be possible without the commitment and dedication of the GMW staff and welfare committee, thank you for everything you do.

Finally, an extended well done to every cadet and squadron who competed yesterday. You all did GMW proud! 💙

🔵1099, you are superstars. Keep up the amazing work! ⭐🟡

🌊 Splash time for 1099! 🌊

Last night we switched up our parade night and hit the water for an evening of paddle boarding! 🏄‍♂️

15 cadets took to the reservoir on 3 giant paddleboards for plenty of activities, challenges, laughs, and of course… another round of everyone’s favourite paddlesports game.... Duck Duck Goose! 🦆🦆🪿

Safe to say there wasn’t a dry bone left on the whole reservoir by the end of the night

A huge thank you to the incredible staff who made the evening possible!

🚨 HOT OFF THE PRESS 🚨

Today, it was publicly announced that TWO of 1099’s very own superstar cadets have received incredible honours, and we couldn’t be prouder! 👏✨

Firstly, CWO Siwik, our most senior cadet, has been awarded the prestigious Lord Lieutenant’s Award for Endeavour. This honour is a true reflection of her outstanding dedication and service to both the Squadron and Wing over the past 5 years. Nobody deserves it more!

Secondly, Sgt Speakman, one of our most passionate and committed cadets, has been selected, following a series of interviews, as the next Lord Lieutenant’s Cadet for Greater Manchester. An exceptional achievement earned by only a handful of RAFAC cadets.

From September 2026, Sgt Speakman will begin his duties escorting the Lord Lieutenant of Greater Manchester during official engagements. An incredible honour for a truly deserving cadet. 👏

These achievements feel even more poignant during the City of Salford’s centenary year. To see two cadets from the heart of Salford recognised in this way is a huge tribute to both our city and our squadron family. ❤️

We are IMMENSELY proud of both Siwik and Speakman. Thank you for your hard work, dedication, and commitment over the years. You are both absolutely amazing! ⭐️

A big well done to all other recipients from across RAFAC and beyond. The award ceremony will be later this summer. 🥳

Congratulations to Sgt Speakman and CWO Siwik. Amazing work!We are all very proud at 1099 🥳

🟡🔵 This evening our athletics team headed to Cleveleys track to prepare for the upcoming Wing Competition 🏃‍♂️

Cadets gave it their all across long jump, shot put, discus, 100m, 200m, 400m, 1500m, and of course, the relay!

A huge well done to everyone for the effort and commitment 👏 A thoroughly enjoyable and productive evening.

Special thanks to FS Kanat, our Squadron Sports Officer, for organising it all.

1099 have been celebrating in serious style lately ✨

Last weekend, a select group of staff and cadets had the incredible honour of attending the Ceremonial Mayor of Salford’s Charity Ball 🎩

The cadets were on meet & greet duties, enjoyed a full three course meal, and even took charge as chief raffle ticket collectors! An unforgettable evening all round 💫

And the celebrations didn’t stop there… this year marks 100 years of the City of Salford! 🎉 On Tuesday 21st, the official birthday, Flt Lt Beaver and Sgt Speakman attended a special interfaith centenary service at Sacred Trinity Church, right in the heart of the city.

A truly meaningful way to celebrate such a historic milestone 🙏

Huge congratulations to all the cadets who represented us at these events, flying the community flag high and making us proud 👏
