Last month, 1099 proudly took part in the Western Front Games 💪🏆

Five squadrons from the western side of GM Wing came together for an action packed evening of competition, taking on events including coneball, hockey, volleyball, archery and the always-intense tug of war.

After an incredible day, 1099 battled all the way to the final, where the overall result came down to a tie break tug of war against 70 Squadron. A huge congratulations to 70 Sqn on a well deserved victory, with 1099 securing an amazing 2nd place overall 🥈

A massive well done to all of our squadron representatives, and to every cadet from across the western squadrons who took part. Your teamwork, determination and sportsmanship made the day a fantastic success.

Finally, a huge thank you to all the staff and volunteers who worked so hard behind the scenes to make the Western Front Games possible. 👏

A Journey to Remember for our very own FS Morris ⛵️

After an incredible 10 days at sea on the Alba Venturer Boat, Flight Sergeant Morris has returned to Oban following an unforgettable Duke of Edinburgh Gold Expedition organised by Scotland & Northern Ireland Region.

The expedition, spanning over 275 nautical miles, took the crew through some of Scotland's most breathtaking scenery, including Loch Slapin, Loch Moidart, Arisaig, the Sound of Mull and the spectacular Loch Scavaig along the isle of Skye.

Along the way, the cadets developed their sailing skills, teamwork and confidence while creating memories that will last a lifetime.

A huge congratulations to FS Morris on successfully completing his Duke of Edinburgh Gold Expedition. Throughout the voyage, he embraced every challenge, built lasting friendships and gained valuable experiences that will stay with him for years to come.

Well done, FS Morris, we're incredibly proud of your achievement and can't wait to see what challenge you take on next. ⚓🌊

🎉 1099 goes to Gorton Monastery! 🎉

Last week, members of 1099 attended the prestigious Lord Lieutenant for Greater Manchester Awards Ceremony, celebrating the incredible achievements of cadets and volunteers from across the region.

🎶 FS Robson and Sgt Oakes took to the stage with the Greater Manchester Wing Band, delivering a performance that received fantastic reviews.

🏆 CWO Maya Siwik proudly accepted her Award for Endeavour, a truly well deserved recognition of her dedication and hard work.

👏 FS Speakman also collected his certificate after being officially appointed as the Lord Lieutenant's Cadet for Greater Manchester 26/27… and was straight into action supporting the event on the evening!

We are incredibly proud of every one of our cadets at 1099 Squadron, and it's especially rewarding to see their commitment and achievements recognised at such a prestigious level.

A huge congratulations to all the award recipients from Greater Manchester Wing and beyond! 👏

🇬🇧 Lancaster Bomber Remembrance Parade

On 26th July, 1099 was honoured to once again join 1938 Sqn for the annual Lancaster Remembrance Parade at Agecroft Cemetery, commemorating those who lost their lives in the Lancaster Bomber crash in Salford.

The service provided an opportunity to reflect on the sacrifice of the servicemen and civilians affected by this tragic event, ensuring their memory continues to be honoured.

Our Squadron Band was privileged to perform as guests arrived, helping to create a fitting atmosphere for the ceremony. We are grateful to have been invited to take part once again and to stand alongside the local community in remembrance.

We are incredibly proud of our cadets, who represented 1099 Squadron with professionalism, respect and dignity throughout the day. Their conduct reflected the values of the RAF Air Cadets within our community.

Lest we forget. 🫡

Yesterday was a busy day for 1099! 👏

In the afternoon, Sgt Speakman and CWO Siwik attended afternoon tea at the Ceremonial Mayor of Salford's Parlour. They were invited in recognition of the Lord Lieutenant's Awards they will be receiving next month, a fantastic achievement during Salford's 100th year celebrations. 🎉

The Ceremonial Mayor, Robin Garrido, was full of praise for both of them, and they thoroughly enjoyed a great afternoon.

Later that evening, 1099 paraded for the final time at Clifton Barracks, which has been our home for the past four months. We are incredibly grateful for the support and facilities provided during our time there.

The evening began with some very well deserved promotions announced by our OC. We would like to congratulate:

⭐ FS Robson
⭐ FS Speakman
⭐ Sgt Oakes
⭐ Cpl Latarska

Your dedication, commitment, and hard work have been recognised....keep up the excellent work! 👏

As always, a huge thank you to all our staff, committee members, and parents who help make so many opportunities possible for our cadets. Your continued support is greatly appreciated. 💪

⭐️VOLUNTEERS WEEK⭐️

This week is an opportunity to celebrate and thank the wonderful staff team at 1099!

Nothing this squadron does would be possible, from planning fun and engaging events to parade night activities, their unwavering commitment and dedication says it all! Without them, cadets would not be able to grow and achieve their highest potential.

Every staff member deserves a massive thank you for their hard work, it is truly ‘second to none’.

We would also like to thank the Civilian Welfare Committee and the Padre, your tireless work supporting the squadron is very much appreciated!

We would like to take a moment thank the wider Wing, this year has been difficult to say the least with the temporary squadron closures, however your expert planning and innovative ideas helped the cadets to continuously strive for excellence!

THANK YOU!!

✨ Yesterday, members of 1099 (Worsley) Sqn were honoured to attend the Ceremonial Mayor of Salford’s Civic Sunday service ✨

The day began with a parade through Worsley, proudly led by our very own squadron band 🥁🎺An incredible display of talent and professionalism. Our main squad was also joined by cadets from 1938 (Salford City & Eccles) Sqn, with both squadron banners flying proudly throughout the parade. The Army and Sea Cadets were also in attendance, along with many other organisations and dignitaries.

The parade led to St Mark’s Church, where we took part in a service to support the newly appointed Ceremonial Mayor, Councillor Robin Garrido.

Following the service, we enjoyed food and refreshments, giving us a fantastic opportunity to connect with fellow community groups and guests attending the occasion 🤝

It was a privilege to be part of such a wonderful celebration of Salford’s community spirit and civic traditions. Our band received high praise from all in attendance, and we couldn’t be prouder of every cadet who took part 👌

👏 Well done, everyone!

🔧 Hands on learning at its best! 🔧

This weekend, 7 of our cadets joined forces with 7 Army Cadets for an incredible Basic Mechanics Day delivered by 127 Coy REME 🚛⚙️

From carrying out initial vehicle checks, to getting up close with a range of engines, touring workshops, and exploring the vehicles used daily, our cadets got a true insight into life in the REME.

The experience didn’t stop there… they also learned what it’s like to serve in this vital role, gaining knowledge and skills that go far beyond the classroom 💡

Opportunities like this are what make being part of RAFAC so special — unforgettable, hands-on, and inspiring experiences 👏

A huge thank you to the staff from 127 Coy REME, ACF, and our own 1099 team for making this happen 🙌
