On Friday October 2nd, the Lord Mayor unveiled a mural at Eccles Station. The mural focuses on "Rocket: All Aboard" - a programme aimed at celebrating the 200th Anniversary of the inauguration of the Liverpool to Manchester Railway in 2030. But it is also linked to the FRECCLES Wellbeing Project which sets out to make our station a more welcoming place for station users. These photos show the Mayor of Salford after the unveiling and a 'team' photo of people involved with the project including Michael Wheeler for Worsley & Eccles and local councillors from Eccles Labour.

A beautiful & colourful mural now adorns the wall of platform 2 (Liverpool & North Wales)
Also looks good in the dark from platform 1.

A mural will be unveiled at Eccles Station at 2pm on Friday October 2nd. The mural was jointly commissioned by Rocket: All Aboard and FRECCLES as part of FRECCLES Wellbeing project. You are very welcome to attend.

Hello FRECCLES Supporters.

This week, I thought I would update you on Rocket: All Aboard.
This is a programme of events planned to celebrate the 200th Anniversary of the Liverpool to Manchester railway - the world's first intercity passenger railway. The main celebration will take place in 2030, the actual anniversary of the inauguration of the railway but it is intended to hold a series of events/activities in the build-up to the main event with particular focus in 2029 on the anniversary of the Rainhill Trials at which the locomotives to work the forthcoming railway were chosen.
The project will be a collaboration between, cities, towns, and public and private bodies and is supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund, You can find more information about Rocket: All Aboard on the Manchester Histories website.
