Children hurtin', I hear them cryin'
Can you practice what you preachin'?
Would you turn the other cheek again?
Mama, mama, mama, tell us what the hell is goin' on
Can't we all just get along?
Father, father, father help us
Send some guidance from above

We just held the first of 'Your Pathway to Becoming a Doctor' and it was a MASSIVE SUCCESS!!! 🎉🎉🎉

We had over 80 young students packed into the Undergraduate Education Centre for an action packed day of fun, inspiration and advice from various medical students and doctors who volunteered their time in executing our motto of 'working together to widen participation'.

The young students loved it! Some comments were "the best workshop I've been to by far" and "it was great to meet medical students and doctors and see that you are just normal humans like us". More feedback to come.

We thanked our first cohort of students with free career consultations to help prepare them to make choices about their future careers. They were a super excited and an extremely keen group of students who were a pleasure to teach and I hope they will be the first batch of many students that we will help to become doctors.

Yesterday we finished our inTouch Inspiration Roadshow with an explosive stand at the 💥 Big Bang Fair at Leigh College 💥

But one event for the day wasn't enough so we followed it up with a fun and information-packed evening at Bury CE High School Careers Fair. 🎓⛑🙌🏼

What a three weeks it's been - National Careers Week followed by British Science Week.

And then of course our workshop - Your Pathway to Becoming a Doctor - this Saturday at Manchester Royal Infirmary. We are a few seats away from being fully-booked now. What an achievement! 💪🏼

We have loads of young dedicated students coming down to find out how to start their journey to becoming a doctor. Lots of prizes, lots of fun and lots of educating and inspirational stories.

We have lots of doctor and medical students giving up their time to help these young students. A big thank you to them from inTouch Communities. We are truly executing our motto - WORKING TOGETHER TO WIDEN PARTICIPATION!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

Showing off our bling and inspiring the next generation of leaders at The Rochdale Science Extravaganza. We met some really inspirational kids - they never cease to impress us.

One kid in year 6 (11 years old) was telling me about acting as a simulated patient for his sister (a medical student). I asked him if he wanted to be a doctor when he was older. He replied, "I don't think I am clever enough".

I told him, "Son, I wasn't as clever as you when I was your age. If I can become a doctor with hard work - so can you!"

inTouch Communities lives to inspire and be inspired.

Exams and grades don't reflect your story entirely - don't let them be the be all and end all.

Two ways to look at it:

1. Loads of people get great at A-levels and probably don't get the offers from higher and further education institutes that they want or feel they deserve.

2. Loads of people don't get good grades and go on to lead multi-million pound businesses.

It's not all about the grades. There's so much to you then your examination results.

Saving lives and treating patients doesn't stop at 5pm.

Working night shifts is an integral part of training and often out-of-hours work is normal practice for doctors. Developing good practices to ensure you minimise the impact on your own health is highly recommended. Just see what MDU student have to say about the topic.

Do you practice good sleep habits? How do you fare when your regular sleeping pattern is disrupted?

The NHS is a 24-hour service, which means night shifts are an unavoidable fact of working life. Today on , we provide advice on how you can prepare for working nights in our student journal.

is going to be the next big craze - I promise you! 💪🏼

We trialed out our new campaign today where I went back to my old sixth form college to say a big 💥 THANK YOU 💥 to the teachers there. They don't realise it, but it's thanks to their efforts and hard work that I am the young professional I am today.

Teachers don't get the recognition they deserve. So here's our very first with a tribute to the teachers at Dixons City Academy (and teachers in general). 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

is all about taking the time out of our busy schedules as we go on with our lives to recognise and say thank you to those who have helped us in one way or another. Theres no need for gifts or material items - a simple thank you costs nothing and is enough to recognise someone's efforts. 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
