On 9 October 2026, The Widows Empowerment Trust attended the De Butterly Black History Celebration and Launch.

We celebrated Black excellence, honoured our heritage and recognised the strength and contributions of Black communities.

Black History Month must also prompt action: challenging inequality, expanding opportunity and ensuring every voice is valued.

Congratulations to the De Butterly team for creating a meaningful space for connection and empowerment.

Fridays like today remind me why I love what we do at The Widows Empowerment Trust!
Our workshop was filled with busy hands, happy faces, lovely conversations and beautiful connections.

But it's never just about sewing or knitting… it's about giving people a reason to smile, somewhere to belong and something to look forward to.

Seeing friendships grow and confidence blossom is what makes it all worthwhile!

We may be stitching fabrics, but we're also stitching hearts and communities together!

From sewing and knitting to sharing stories and laughter, our Friday sessions are all about learning new skills, building friendships and supporting one another.

Today, our CEO spent time in the office working closely with our wonderful young staff team, providing guidance, sharing knowledge and supporting their professional development.

Connecting with Our Community in Salford University

Yesterday 30/9/26, our wonderful staff team represented The Widows Empowerment Trust at the Salford Volunteer Fair, raising awareness of our services and connecting with people interested in making a difference.

It was a great opportunity to share how we support people experiencing bereavement, loneliness and social isolation through our befriending service, wellbeing activities and community support.

We also encouraged people to join our growing team of volunteers. Volunteering is not just about giving your time. It is about bringing hope, building friendships and making a meaningful difference in someone's life.

A big thank you to our dedicated staff team for representing our charity and helping us reach more people in the community.

Wellbeing is also about connection, creativity and belonging.

Another lovely Friday Wellbeing session at The Widows Empowerment Trust, bringing people together in a safe and welcoming space.

This week, our members enjoyed creative activities, sewing, conversations, laughter and simply spending time together.
For someone experiencing bereavement, loneliness or isolation, having somewhere to go and people to connect with can make a meaningful difference.

Our wellbeing sessions are not just about the activities. They are about building friendships, improving confidence, reducing isolation and creating a sense of belonging.

This is community. This is connection. This is wellbeing.
