A hospital visit that touched my heart.

Today, I spent time with one of our clients, and she told me that she sees us as part of her family. That simple statement means so much. It shows the trust, love, and connection that have been built through our work.
At Widows Empowerment Trust, we are not just a charity. We are a community of care, support, and belonging. Everyone deserves to feel loved, especially during difficult times.

Today was a reminder that sometimes the greatest gift we can give is simply being there.

Day 2 *31/5/26*
A wonderful day of fundraising at Morrisons in support of Zuriel Kigho, finalist for Miss Teen Great Britain.

Zuriel was joined by siblings and mum to support her journey. We are incredibly proud of her determination, confidence, and commitment to making a difference.

For Zuriel, this journey is about more than a pageant. It is about building confidence, overcoming challenges, and becoming a positive voice for young people. Through her experiences, she hopes to inspire others to believe in themselves, embrace their uniqueness, and follow their dreams.

A huge thank you to everyone who supported her fundraising efforts today and to Morrisons for giving her the opportunity to engage with the community and raise funds towards her Miss Teen Great Britain journey.

We are grateful for the encouragement, kindness, and support shown by family, friends, and members of the community.

Keep shining, Zuriel. We are all behind you and wish you every success in the finals.

At The Widows Empowerment Trust, we believe in bringing communities together through connection, empowerment and shared experiences.

Our International Women’s Day celebration was a beautiful moment of unity, joy and inspiration as women from different backgrounds came together to celebrate strength, resilience and community support. Events like this help create meaningful connections, reduce isolation and empower people through togetherness and belonging.

We were also honoured by the presence of the Lord Lieutenant, whose support made the occasion even more special.

This video reflects the heart of our work. Building community, empowering lives and creating spaces where everyone feels valued and connected.

At The Widows Empowerment Trust, we are incredibly proud of one of our inspiring young volunteers, Zuriel Kigho, who is a finalist in Miss Teen Great Britain.

Zuriel has grown up volunteering and serving within our community, showing kindness, confidence, leadership, and a passion for making a difference in the lives of others.

As she prepares for the finals, she has been fundraising to support her journey and we have been touched to see her friends coming together to encourage and support her. Their generosity, friendship, and belief in her show the power of young people lifting one another up.

Zuriel is more than a finalist. She is a young voice for her generation, using this opportunity to inspire others, build confidence, and demonstrate that young people can lead with purpose and compassion.

Please join us in celebrating and supporting our beautiful finalist, .

Sometimes, the greatest support is simply having someone who will listen.

Our trained volunteers provide a safe and compassionate space where people can share their stories, memories and emotions without judgement. Being heard can reduce loneliness, build trust and bring comfort during difficult times.

Through listening, connection and kindness, our volunteers help people feel valued, supported and less alone.

We are incredibly proud to celebrate one of our amazing young volunteers, Zuriel Kigho BCyA, our future Miss Oldham and finalist for Miss Teen Great Britain 2026.

Zuriel has volunteered with The Widows Empowerment Trust from a very young age, always showing kindness, compassion, confidence, and leadership within the community. She is passionate about empowering young people, supporting bereaved families, and inspiring others to believe in themselves and dream big.

Sometimes the most meaningful moments are the simplest ones.

A community visit, a warm brew, shared stories, and a listening ear.

At 95 years old, he reminded us that everyone deserves companionship, dignity, and to feel heard. These visits are about creating safe spaces where people feel valued, connected, and never forgotten.

Small acts of kindness can make a big difference.
