The Counselling and Family Centre

The Counselling and Family Centre CFC - by your side 'for whatever life throws at you'. Counselling is for anything that is troubling you.

We offer counselling from the age of 5 onward, as well as learning, support groups, and training for well-being in the work place. We can help you to make better sense of what’s happening in your life – all you need to do is pick up the phone, email or call in at the Centre

You are not alone – in Britain each year around 1 in 4 of us will experience emotional and mental health problems

We offer

counselling to adult individuals, couples, families, and to children and young people from 5 years old. Additionally we provide support for families affected by addiction and parents affected by pregnancy and birth issues. Beyond counselling we provide self improvement courses and workshops for all, and training workshops for counsellors and health professionals. We have helped people through loss and bereavement, anxiety and stress, panic attacks, low self esteem, relationship problems, redundancy, domestic violence and abuse, depression and low mood……and many, many more problems. Let us help you to discover more about yourself and your inner strengths, sort out your needs and priorities, make decisions, accept what can and cannot be changed, find more effective ways of coping and decide what’s really important for you – you will never be judged or criticised.

Some people talk.
Some people walk.
Some people need time.
Some people prefer group support.

Everyone processes things differently.

What matters is knowing support is there when you need it

We’re delighted to welcome two fantastic work experience students to the CFC team this week!

Lucy from Sale Grammar School and Sophira from Trafford College have been spending time with us learning about the many different roles that help our charity make a difference every day. They’ve brought enthusiasm, curiosity and a real willingness to get involved, and it’s been a pleasure having them with us.

We asked them both to tell us a little bit about themselves, and what they hope to gain from their time at CFC. Take a moment to meet Lucy and Sophira below 👇

Lucy says…
I have had a lovely time at CFC so far, with a multitude of different activities and learning experiences. From activities at the allotment, to helping out at reception, every new task has been exciting and an interesting journey meeting everyone wonderful working at the charity, café and allotment!
Sophira says…
Doing a week’s worth of work experience with CFC so far has been very fun and interesting. Everyone is very lovely and welcoming alongside being very helpful whilst I’ve done different learning activities such as helping in the allotment, working in the café and shadowing the administration and reception roles. This week has been a very exciting journey and I’m happy to have had the journey with CFC!

Many men grow up feeling pressure to stay quiet about how they feel.

But stress, anxiety, burnout and overwhelm affect everyone.

Talking is not weakness.
Asking for support is not failure.
Your mental health matters too.
