A safe arrival. A dignified beginning.
A beautiful baby has arrived safely into the world. His parents, recognised refugees, were forced to leave their accommodation while pregnant, with their toddler and nowhere safe to go.
At CRIBS they found a safe home and the care they needed to welcome their baby into the world.

Μια ασφαλής άφιξη. Μια αξιοπρεπής αρχή.

Ένα όμορφο μωράκι ήρθε με ασφάλεια στον κόσμο. Οι γονείς του, αναγνωρισμένοι πρόσφυγες, αναγκάστηκαν να εγκαταλείψουν το ΚΥΤ στο οποίο διέμεναν, ενώ η μητέρα ήταν έγκυος, μαζί με το μικρό τους παιδί, χωρίς να έχουν ένα ασφαλές μέρος να πάνε.

Στην CRIBS βρήκαν ένα ασφαλές σπίτι και τη φροντίδα που χρειάζονταν για να υποδεχτούν το μωράκι τους στον κόσμο.

Two weeks ago, a few students from Pace University in New York came to visit our free shop and support our staff with reorganising the shop, to make it more accessible for people coming in for appointments, so that they can have a dignified experience! On the agenda: construction of new clothing racks, reorganisation of the women’s clothing area, and storage of winter clothes to make room for the summer ones. We were glad to host them and show them the reality of accessible daily needs, how essential this service is, and how important it is that the service we provide keeps existing☀️

This weekend, CRIBS International is taking part in the Anti Racist festival here in Athens.

Together with other organisations, we want to bring the light on every-day struggles of people on the move, and show our support through our projects.

There will be concerts, food stands, conferences and much more, so let’s meet here and learn something together!

No one should need courage to find shelter

✖️ When Elias turned 18, he was left homeless and without any support from the Greek state.
✅ With support from one of the NGOs in the Stand In The Gap coalition, he was supported in finding housing, securing a stable life situation and a dignified job.

👉 Across Europe, people on the move are left to navigate the housing process without the support they need. These gaps lead to people being denied the protection they deserve.

Today is World Refugee Day.
It is not a day to celebrate courage. It is a day to ask why courage is still required. Courage to ask a doctor a question, Courage to understand a legal document. Courage to find a safe place to sleep. Courage to send your child to school.
These are not extraordinary acts. They should not require extraordinary people.
