We Love MCR Charity We Love MCR is Manchester's own Charity. We give heart, hope and opportunity to the people of Manchester, when they need it most!

We help young Mancs remove unfair barriers to success, and support our communities to empower themselves with vital grants. We give heart, hope and opportunity to the people of Manchester, when they need it most. We do this firstly by supporting young Mancunians, giving them the opportunity to fulfil their ambitions through our Manchester’s Rising Stars Fund. Removing financial barriers to success in qualifications, work and entrepreneurship. We also support our communities, that make Manchester special. Our Stronger Communities Fund empowers local people and volunteer groups to improve their own areas and spaces, whenever they are ready. We listen, and act on their inspiring ideas. Finally, we are responsive and ready when the city needs us most. People across Manchester faced immense and immediate challenges when Covid-19 struck, and our Community Response Fund offered rapid support to frontline organisations, to make real differences at speed - awarding nearly £1million to 300+ groups. Through this, we improved lives, and saved lives. The launch of our recent MCR Ukraine Welcome Fund, for the wave of evacuees due to arrive in the city, is yet another example of this readiness. 💛 Why does Manchester need its own charity?

It’s a question we’re sometimes asked.

The answer is simple.

Because no one understands Manchester like the people who live and work here.

Every week we meet ambitious young people chasing careers they never thought possible. We meet volunteers giving up evenings and weekends to strengthen their communities. We meet organisations spotting gaps in support long before anyone else sees them.

They don’t need someone to tell them what Manchester needs.

They already know.

Sometimes they just need someone to believe in them.

That’s where We Love MCR Charity comes in.

Through our Manchester’s Rising Stars Fund and Stronger Communities Fund, we back local people with local ideas that create lasting change across our city.

Every grant we award stays in Manchester.

🏅 Manchester has always produced incredible sporting talent.

But talent alone isn’t always enough.

Behind every athlete are countless hours of training, travel, equipment, coaching and competition. For many young people, those costs can become the biggest barrier between potential and performance.

That’s why our Manchester’s Rising Stars Fund is here.

We want to see Manchester’s next generation of athletes grow, compete and take on the world, whether that’s representing their club, their country or one day standing on the biggest stages in sport.

One of those young people is Annabel.

With support from We Love MCR Charity, Annabel has been able to access the equipment and opportunities she needed to continue developing as an athlete, going on to represent England and inspire other young Mancunians to dream big.

Her journey is a reminder of what can happen when talent meets opportunity.

Every day we meet incredible people with ideas that could change lives. A young person determined to build a career, a community group tackling loneliness, volunteers creating greener spaces, parents supporting local families.
