We Love MCR Charity

We Love MCR Charity We Love MCR is Manchester's own Charity. We give heart, hope and opportunity to the people of Manchester, when they need it most!

We help young Mancs remove unfair barriers to success, and support our communities to empower themselves with vital grants. We give heart, hope and opportunity to the people of Manchester, when they need it most. We do this firstly by supporting young Mancunians, giving them the opportunity to fulfil their ambitions through our Manchester’s Rising Stars Fund. Removing financial barriers to success

in qualifications, work and entrepreneurship. We also support our communities, that make Manchester special. Our Stronger Communities Fund empowers local people and volunteer groups to improve their own areas and spaces, whenever they are ready. We listen, and act on their inspiring ideas. Finally, we are responsive and ready when the city needs us most. People across Manchester faced immense and immediate challenges when Covid-19 struck, and our Community Response Fund offered rapid support to frontline organisations, to make real differences at speed - awarding nearly Β£1million to 300+ groups. Through this, we improved lives, and saved lives. The launch of our recent MCR Ukraine Welcome Fund, for the wave of evacuees due to arrive in the city, is yet another example of this readiness. πŸ’› Stronger communities start with people who care.

This month, through our Stronger Communities Fund, we awarded Β£29,837 to grassroots organisations making a real difference across Manchester.

From Newton Heath to North Manchester, community groups are creating opportunities, reducing isolation and bringing people together in ways only local people can.

This month's grants will help:

🀝 Support survivors of modern slavery to rebuild confidence and connection through safe, community-based programmes.

🎭 Bring live theatre into primary schools across Manchester, giving hundreds of young children and their families the chance to experience performance together.

πŸŽ„ Help adults at risk of loneliness create and perform a community Christmas production, building friendships and confidence along the way.

πŸ“š Launch new Stay, Play & Learn sessions for families with pre-school children, helping little ones prepare for school while strengthening community connections.

Every one of these projects started with an idea to make Manchester a little stronger.

We're proud to help make them happen.

If your community group has an idea that could make a difference, we'd love to hear from you.

🌟 "It made me feel like there was a place for me."

That's what Iqra says about receiving support through the Maurice Watkins Bursary, funded by Brabners through our Manchester's Rising Stars Fund.

Like so many ambitious young people, Iqra knew where she wanted to go. The challenge wasn't ambition, it was overcoming the financial barriers that stood in her way.

Her grant helped fund a laptop, professional clothing and the costs that come with pursuing a career in law.

More importantly, it gave her the confidence to focus on what mattered most: her studies and her future.

If you're aged 15–22, live in Manchester and have the ambition to build a career in law but need financial support to take the next step, we'd love to hear from you.

Your future shouldn't be defined by your circumstances.

πŸŽ‰ Good luck, Manchester. It's GCSE Results Day.

Today is a big day for thousands of young people across our city.

Whether you're celebrating the results you hoped for, feeling a little disappointed, or still figuring out what comes next, remember that today is just one step on your journey.

At We Love MCR Charity, we've had the privilege of supporting hundreds of Manchester's Rising Stars, young people with ambition, determination and big dreams. Many of them have faced challenges far beyond exams, yet they've gone on to build careers in music, law, photography, sport, fashion, engineering and so much more.

Your results matter, but they do not define your potential.

If you're aged 15–22, live in Manchester and have a clear goal but need financial support to help you take the next step, our Manchester's Rising Stars Fund could help turn your ambition into reality.

Congratulations to everyone receiving their results today. Whatever your next chapter looks like, we're cheering you on every step of the way. 🌟

🀝 What makes a great charity partnership?

For us, it's never just about a donation.

It's about businesses choosing to invest their knowledge, networks and belief into the future of Manchester.

That's exactly what our partnership with Brabners has become.

Together we've created the Maurice Watkins Bursary, helping talented young people overcome financial barriers and pursue careers in law. Alongside the funding comes encouragement, connection and the knowledge that someone believes in your potential.

As Leanne from Brabners says in this film:

"We're missing out on talent if we don't open ourselves to be more accessible."

We couldn't agree more.

The strongest partnerships create lasting change for everyone involved. Businesses make a meaningful difference to their city, while young people and communities gain opportunities that can change the course of their lives.

If your business is looking for a charity partner that delivers real impact right here in Manchester, we'd love to start a conversation.

Together, we can create even more opportunities across our city.

βš–οΈ Great partnerships don't just fund opportunities. They create them.

One of the things we're most proud of at We Love MCR Charity is our partnership with Brabners through the Maurice Watkins Bursary.

Together, we're helping talented young Mancunians overcome the financial barriers that too often stand between them and a career in law.

Since 2022, the partnership has:

β€’ Supported 11 aspiring legal professionals
β€’ Invested Β£30,000 into young people's futures
β€’ Helped two students progress to their Bar Practice Course
β€’ Been renewed with a further Β£45,000 commitment through to 2028

But this partnership is about much more than funding.

It's about removing the hidden barriers. The laptop needed to study. The travel costs to interviews. The professional clothing that helps someone walk into a room with confidence.

As Leanne from Brabners explains in this film, businesses have a vital role to play in making professions like law more accessible, and together we're helping ensure talent is recognised regardless of background.

When Manchester businesses invest in Manchester's young people, everyone benefits.

Thank you to everyone at Brabners for believing in the next generation. πŸ’›

🏏 Champions on the pitch. Partners off it.

A huge congratulations to on becoming The Hundred 2026 Champions! What a way to make history, securing the franchise's first title with a thrilling victory at Lord's.

We're incredibly proud to welcome Manchester Super Giants as one of We Love MCR Charity's newest charity partners.

Seeing the We Love MCR Charity logo worn proudly on the sleeves of the players throughout the tournament has been a brilliant reminder of what partnerships can achieve. They don't just raise awareness, they help shine a light on the work being done to support Manchester's young people and communities every single day.

Earlier this season, our Head of Charity, Simon Wright, and the Lord Mayor of Manchester were lucky enough to experience the atmosphere first-hand, watching the team in action and seeing just how much the club means to supporters across the city.

This is just the beginning, and we're excited to see our partnership grow over the coming seasons as we work together to create even more opportunities across Manchester.

Congratulations once again to everyone at Manchester Super Giants on an unforgettable season. Champions, and deservedly so. πŸ’›

🎢 One performance. One standing ovation. One unforgettable reminder of why this dinner matters.

A few years ago, guests at our Fundraising Dinner were introduced to Eden.

A talented young Mancunian who had overcome extraordinary challenges after losing both of his parents as a teenager. Through the Manchester's Rising Stars Fund, we were able to support him on his journey into classical music.

That evening, Eden stood in front of a room full of Manchester businesses and civic leaders and sang.

There wasn't a person in the room who wasn't moved.

Today, Eden is completing his Master's at the Royal Northern College of Music and continues to build an incredible career as a tenor, pianist and composer.

His story reminds us that our Fundraising Dinner isn't just about raising money.

It's about introducing Manchester to the remarkable people whose futures are being transformed because this city believes in them.

Who will inspire the room this year?

You'll have to join us to find out. πŸ’›

πŸ₯‚ More than a dinner. A night that changes lives.

Every year, something special happens at The Midland Hotel.

Manchester's business leaders, civic organisations and supporters come together for one evening with one shared purpose: creating more opportunities for the people who call this city home.

Since our first Fundraising Dinner, thousands of people have joined us, hundreds of businesses have shown their support and together we've raised hundreds of thousands of pounds to empower ambitious young people and strengthen communities across Manchester.

Along the way we've heard incredible keynote speakers, celebrated the achievements of our Rising Stars, premiered charity films, welcomed inspiring guests and, most importantly, seen the generosity of this city in action.

This year's dinner is shaping up to be another unforgettable evening.

We'll be sharing more over the coming weeks, but if you've been thinking about joining us, now is the time to start the conversation.

Manchester always shows up for Manchester. 🐝
