The SAA is an animal charity who care for and rehome unwanted cats and rabbits in the North West.

We offer bunny boarding for holidays and have two secure dog fields for private hire - please see our website and social media for full details!

Can anyone please help with raffle or tombola prizes for our events, especially our fast approaching Aummer Fair and 60th birthday bash on 11 July? 🙏

If anyone has unwanted boxed gifts, vouchers, bottles of alcohol or alternatives or unused children's toys, we would be super grateful for any donations for our Summer Fair on Saturday 11 July 💕

Donations can be dropped at the Sanctuary, Off Dane Road, Sale/Stretford, M32 9UP any day between 11am and 4pm or e-vouchers can be emailed to [email protected]

🙏Can you please help?🙏

We are in desperate need of additional help for our Summer Fair and 60th Birthday Party on Saturday 11 July.

If anyone could help, even if just for an hour or two, we would be incredibly grateful - we simply cannot run these events without your help and we are really short of people so far this time 😭

We desperately need:

🐾Set up help from 10am to noon
🐈‍⬛Stall holders from noon until 4pm
🐇Hot plate chefs from noon until 4pm
❤️Close down help from 3.30pm onwards

If you can help for all or part of any of those slots, please drop Debbie an email on [email protected] to let her know what you would like to do!

We would also be extremely grateful if anyone could display a poster in their shop, workplace, community noticeboard etc - please let us know if you can help! 💕

📢Did you know that Sunday was World Blood Donor Day? 📢

Just like us, sometimes our feline companions can find themselves in situations whereby they may be in need of a life-saving blood transfusion whether this is due to severe illness or from a trauma resulting in serious blood loss such as being hit by a car.

The UK has a Pet Blood Bank which has registered canine donors but there is a very real need for more cats as the feline blood register is not as developed.
Cats have 3 blood groups and again just like us, a cat needing a blood transfusion will need to have its blood group type-matched with donor blood to ensure there is no antibody reaction against the new blood received.

If you feel that you would like to help or more to the point that your kitty would not object and would be at ease with the process, you can register your interest at the Pet Medics Emergency Veterinary Hospital in Worsley.

There are criteria that must be met, your cat must:
Be between 1 – 8 years old
Be fully up to date with vaccinations
Be easy to handle
Be healthy and on no medications
Weigh over 4.5kg
Never have travelled abroad
Never had a blood transfusion itself.
Your cat will receive a full health check and blood tests to ensure it is safe to go ahead and if needed will receive a very light sedative to make them feel fully at ease during the process.
And whilst they won’t get a cup of tea and a biscuit as we humans may - they will get some lovely toys and treats as a thank you for helping to save a cat’s life.
