Manchester South Central Food Bank hosted by Bridging the Gap

We aim to work with and to support our local community. When we are able to we provide refreshments for community groups meetings.

Manchester South Central Foodbank is delivered by a local charity 'Bridging the Gap' providing a foodbank service to people living in Hulme, Moss Side, Whalley Range and Old Trafford. We work with local agencies to support families/individuals who for various reasons cannot access our foodbank; we will provide emergency food parcels with agency support outside of our distribution sessions. Current

ly we do this by supporting primary school breakfast clubs, groups who cook for street homeless people & agencies who work with asylum seekers.

Universal credit has never been linked to the actual cost of essentials.

No independent evidence. No regular review. Just a political decision.

It’s time to change that.

Alongside Trussell, we’re calling on the UK government to set an independent process for Universal Credit, one that looks at real costs and makes sure the support people receive matches up.

Huge thanks to the amazing volunteer team from for helping us sort uniforms for our last free pop up event tomorrow🫶

All our pre loved uniform is free for families who can come along to the event on Tuesday 25th August between 1pm and 3:00pm at Stretford Public Hall, M32 0LG

Today we received another food donation from the brilliant team at Aviva plc Manchester

Massive thanks to Sheila who has supported our work for several years and organised their Summer Campaign.

With continued support like this our Food bank hubs can stay open, providing a place of hope and community. They provide a lifeline – offering not just emergency food but a warm welcome, connection over a cup of tea, and advice that makes it less likely people will need our help again.

Thank you to Urban Bubble and its residents from Burlington Square who collected over 50 meals for us throughout July. Their next collection will be this month at their LOCAL Blackfriars site and we are excited to see how this community partnership develops🫶

We had been looking for opportunities to help our residents engage meaningfully with the local community and to learn that there was a dedicated foodbank for our local area felt very fitting. We are always delighted to welcome our wonderful supporters, especially when they come bearing gifts. A huge thank you to ANSGroup who dropped off their office collections.

Each month, we support over 450 individuals facing hardship. Regular donations like these help us be there for local people when they need us most.

Join team MSC Foodbank💚

We have an exciting new volunteering opportunity at our Warehouse based in Hulme.
The role involves packing emergency food parcels, keeping shelves stocked and working with a friendly team of volunteers!
The shifts are on Wednesday mornings from 9:30-12:30.

School holiday should be a time to relax and reconnect but for many of our families they are a time for increased financial stress and anxiety.

We provide Holiday Hunger parcels to hundreds of families like Jane’s every year to help ease that financial pressure.

£30 will provide one family with a holiday hunger hamper.
