Children's University

Children's University Children’s University is a charity that encourages, tracks and celebrates learning beyond the classroom for learners age five and above.

Children’s University is a charity that works in partnership with schools to develop a love of learning in children. We do this by encouraging and celebrating participation in extracurricular activities in and outside of school. The impact of these activities is proven to be positive which is why we’re committed to creating a level playing field of opportunity and opening up access to children of all backgrounds.

We love seeing the creativity and imagination coming from young people taking part in the Creative Briefs Discover Arts Award!

This fantastic “Ocean Cleaner” mixed-up animal was created during the first session of the programme and shows brilliant creative thinking, problem solving, and design skills! Well done and we can't wait to see what comes out of the next two sessions.

Introducing Work Of The Week! ⭐️

Each week we're going to be featuring work by a young person that has really caught our eye.

This week we're loving this mixed-up animal - an Ocean Cleaner which collects rubbish from the sea. Its big tail is like a platypus and helps him go fast so he can collect lots of rubbish.

This has been created as part of Part A of Arts Award Discover level. https://www.creativebriefs.co.uk/arts-award

It’s full of imagination, creativity, and some brilliant original thinking. We love the explanation behind some of the design decisions and the bold use of colour.

Great work!

From shy beginnings to a career in digital… Ellie’s story 💜

Ellie first joined Children’s University at just seven years old and like many young people, it started as a chance to try something new.

At the time, she describes herself as quite shy and unsure in new situations. But through a range of Children’s University activities, from hands-on industry days to celebrating achievements at graduations, Ellie gradually built her confidence and discovered a love of learning beyond the classroom.

Those experiences helped her develop important skills like teamwork, communication and problem solving, without even realising it at the time.

Fast forward to today, and Ellie is now working as a Digital Content Designer in local government, creating accessible online services that help people every day. She was also the first in her family to go to university and says her Children’s University journey played an important role in making that feel possible.

Ellie’s story is a powerful reminder of how giving children opportunities to explore, try new things and step outside their comfort zone can have a lasting impact on their future.
