Makants Greyhound Rescue NW This is an independent greyhound rescue based in Tyldesley, Greater Manchester. Self funding, registered charity, volunteer run.

Makants Greyhound Rescue is a small, self funded, independent registered charity based in Tyldesley, Greater Manchester. The charity's aim is to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome ex racing greyhounds. We are supported by a great team of volunteers who help fundraise and provide care for the greyhounds in our kennels. To date (January 2026) we have homed over 740 ex racing greyhounds.

DOB July 2022

4 year old CASH arrived with us on the 22nd July 2026.

Cash is a larger boy and has settled in well, showing us what a gentle and loving lad he is!

Already described by Siobhan as a ‘lovely boy’ CASH can initially be quite excited to go out for a walk but after a couple of minutes he settles down and walks well. He does enjoys his daily walks with our volunteers and is fine with any other breed of dog he meets when out and about.

CASH loves people and loves toys even more. He loves to collect any toys he comes across, but doesn’t actually play with them!

For Cash we're looking for adopters who have some large dog experience and would prefer any children to be 13 plus due to Cash’s size (36kg)

💗REMEMBERING NORA ECKERSLEY 💗

We recently heard of the passing of much loved Makants supporter Nora Eckersley.

Nora was the mother of Makants volunteer Sue Costello. Nora was a great supporter of Makants for many years assisting at fundraising events with Sue and also adopting many rescue greyhounds over the years, most recently Arthur, one of the 'Makants 9' pups. It was always a pleasure to see Nora at kennels or an event and the hounds loved her.

We send our thanks today to family and friends for donations recently received from Nora's funeral. Thank you all for being so generous and thinking of the rescue at such a very sad time.

We send our love and sincere condolences to Sue and her family.
