"Giving up is not in the blood, sir. It's not in the blood."
— Nirmal "Nimsdai" Purja MBE

We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of "Nimsdai" Nims Dai Ltd. following the avalanche on Broad Peak.

Nimsdai inspired countless people around the world through his extraordinary achievements, unwavering determination and passion for the mountains. His legacy will continue to inspire future generations of climbers and outdoor enthusiasts through his resilience and his belief in pushing the limits of what is possible.

Our thoughts are with his wife, young daughter, family, friends and colleagues at this incredibly difficult time.

We also remember the other mountaineers who lost their lives in this tragedy.

From everyone at the OIA, we send our deepest sympathies to all those affected.

One spark can destroy moorland that may take years to recover. As wildfire risk climbs across our uplands this summer, the Regional Moorland Groups are asking everyone heading outdoors to go without naked flames. No disposable barbecues, no campfires, no dropped rubbish. Let's care moor. www.regionalmoorlandgroups.com

Around this time 20 years ago, a press release announced details of the first Outdoor Trade Show. Back then, we fixed on autumn dates (let’s not reignite that debate!), and our show made its debut at Stoneleigh Park. A great deal has changed in our trade since 2006, and in business and the world in general, but the principle of bringing the UK outdoor industry together in one place for the benefit of all continues to underpin OTS and everyone involved in it.

As we build towards OTS 2026 in Liverpool, we’re going to celebrate two decades of the show with images, insights and highlights from two decades of a show that remains at the heart of the UK outdoor industry. We’ll also showcase during OTS 2026, and we’d love our friends and colleagues in the trade to get involved by sharing your own memories and material from the archives.

I’ve just returned from a week ski touring in the Caucasus mountains in Georgia. One of the most striking moments wasn’t the landscape - though that was extraordinary - but watching a group of local kids trudging uphill in battered, second-hand ski boots, carrying old, mismatched skis. They didn...
