Could you be the Big Sister a young girl is waiting for?

We are currently looking for women to join our Big Sister Programme at Wilmslow High School.

By giving just one hour a month, you could help a young girl build confidence, raise her aspirations and believe in her potential.

You don't need any special qualifications. You simply need to be willing to listen, encourage and be a positive role model.

Many of our Big Sisters tell us they gain as much from the experience as their Little Sisters do.

If you would like to make a real difference in a young person's life, we'd love to hear from you.

Message us to find out more about becoming a Big Sister.

Following today's difficult news, we'd like to share a message from our founder Jane Kenyon Mbe

07/06/2026

It's Volunteers' Week and we wanted to take a moment to say thank you to some pretty amazing people.

To every Big Sister, role model, ambassador, fundraiser and volunteer who gives their time to support Girls Out Loud, thank you. You help us reach more girls, run more programmes and make a real difference in their lives.

A special shoutout also goes to everyone who ran, walked, laughed, struggled and crossed the finish line at the Manchester 10K last week. What a day it was.

We are so proud of every single one of you.

Whether you spend an hour with a Little Sister, volunteer at an event, share our message, or take on a fundraising challenge, you are helping girls to be bold, brave and believe in their potential.

Fancy joining us next year?

We're already looking for runners and walkers to join Team Girls Out Loud for the Manchester10K on 23rd May 2027. Come on your own, bring some friends, get your family involved enter a team from work.

Drop us a message and be part of something special.

Thank you for everything you do. We couldn't do it without you.

We're looking for businesses who would like to get involved in our Big Sister Programme at Wilmslow High School.

This is an opportunity for women in your organisation to support and inspire teenage girls through mentoring, while developing their own confidence, communication and leadership skills along the way.

Our Big Sisters receive full training and ongoing support from the Girls Out Loud team. The programme creates a real impact, both for the girls taking part and for the women who volunteer.

If your business is passionate about supporting young people, investing in female talent, and giving back to the local community, we'd love to hear from you.

Please feel free to share this post with any businesses or colleagues who might be interested.

This Sunday, we’re taking on the Manchester 10K.

Not because we’re elite runners, far from it, but because every mile means something bigger than us.

We’re running to support young girls, to raise awareness, and to back our work that changes lives behind the scenes every single day. The conversations, the mentoring, the confidence building, the moments nobody sees, they all matter.

There will probably be sore legs, questionable pacing, and a lot of “whose idea was this?” along the route, but we’re showing up anyway.

If you’ve supported us, donated, shared a post, or cheered us on during training, thank you. It genuinely means the world.

Manchester, be kind to us on Sunday.

Most adults still think AI is mainly a homework shortcut.

Meanwhile teenagers are growing up surrounded by AI chatbot apps, immersive gaming, virtual worlds and technology many parents and carers admit they do not fully understand.

That’s why Girls Out Loud has created AI – IT AIN’T.

A 60-minute online workshop designed to help parents, carers and professionals better understand the virtual reality world teenagers are experiencing today and the risks this technology presents right now.

Created by Jane Kenyon Mbe and Heidi Fletcher the workshop explores immersive AI including:

• The Metaverse
• AI chatbot apps
• Interactive gaming technology
• Deep fakes
• Revenge p**n
• Image-based sexual abuse

This technology is way more than a homework cheat.

We first need to understand the online world teenagers are living in, then put strategies in place to help minimise the risks.

The workshop also includes two downloadable handouts, one for adults and one for teens or pre-teens, packed with practical pointers, conversation starters and useful resources to help families navigate the online world together.

Over the past 16 years Girls Out Loud has supported more than 30,000 girls across the UK, trained over 4,000 mentors and inspired thousands of volunteers to help girls learn, lead and thrive.

If you are a parent, carer, teacher or somebody working with young people, this conversation matters.

Download AI – IT AIN’T and start the conversation at home.

AI – IT AIN’T What do you know about the virtual reality world your teenagers are experiencing today? In this 60-minute whistlestop tour the Girls Out Loud coaching team will walk you through the key risks this technology presents to our teenagers now. We will explore the world view, what our te...
