Sneak peek into a Skillshare Session with our amazing facilitation team Anna and , in collaboration with in Sierra Leone!💥 These sessions engage local music facilitators with body percussion, vocal warm-ups, and musical co-creation for wellbeing. The local team then deliver regular ongoing sessions in a women's prison, a juvenile detention centre in Freetown and with communities in Susan's Bay.

Enjoy Bayati Medley, performed by Naeim Alnajjar and Syrian musicians Nour Eddin Zaytoun, Fadi Omran, Mohamad Rihawi with Syrian young people.

Our facilitator Naeim returned to Damascus, Syria for the first time in 14 years and put together this 6 day programme to combine art forms and create together.

"The project highlighted the human voice as a tool for connection and self-expression. One participant commented that the session made them feel “more confident to use my voice without worrying about being judged,” which strongly reflects the impact of our work." Naiem

Through a 10 week creative programme, ESOL learners wrote and recorded 3 songs that celebrate identity, connection, and friendship, through music 🌍🎶 Enjoy the groovy and powerful 'Same Story, Same Life'.

Everyday People is a programme that harnesses the power of creativity to build belonging amongst young safety-seekers. Many of our participants arrive without friends or family here, carrying experiences of survival, displacement and isolation. Creating together reduces isolation, builds friendship and understanding. These legacies continue long after the sessions end.

With the rise of violence and protests targeting refugees and safety seekers, harmful and dehumanising governmental policies, we know many are looking for avenues to meaningfully provide some comfort and relief to impacted individuals and communities. Our work at Music Action centres joy, connection, and community through the shared language of music. Through our years of working with safety-seekers, we've developed a meaningful co-creative process where wellbeing is centred and wonderful music is made together, providing refugees with a lifeline of caring connection when things seem irreparably dire.

RAMFEL have released an in-depth report exposing the industry surrounding "asylum hotels", showing how a handful of companies are making millions, profiting from housing safety seekers in miserable conditions.

In the report, we hear directly from people living in the "hotels" about what it's really like to live there - with overcrowding, inedible food and lack of adjustments for health conditions. It's time for the government to end the use of "asylum hotels", and invest in real homes, not corporate shareholders.
