MCR FLOWER FESTIVAL 🌷

We’re super pleased to be part of this year!

Find us in St Anne’s Square in the Ginnel Gardens area where we’ve installed a habitat wall built using reclaimed materials from building sites!

Inspired by brutalist architecture, the installation takes the form of a large-scale “bug hotel’, blending bold design with a regenerative gardening approach.

Come down and see how even the smallest city spaces can become shared environments for plants, insects and communities to thrive.

We’ve loved working on this project, led by Jo and a team of fantastic volunteers, we hope you enjoy it too! 🌼

MAY DAY AT FOREVER FIELDS! 🌱

Join us at Forever Fields on Sunday 3rd May for the Workers Garden Fayre For Peace!

Bringing together community, music, dance, and traditions rooted in nature - we’re asking, what is the meaning of ‘folk’ in our community?

Our May Day event is a way to get together, support each other and enjoy nature in the city.

So lets welcome in the longer days and warmer sun together as we embrace Spring with a packed programme of workshops, maypole dancing, art, food, drink, markets & much more at our Forever Fields community garden in Chorlton.

Our focus is on local and we want the whole community down to enjoy the space!

The Ffern Folk Foundation Grant 🌱

As many of you will know, in January we were one of the recipients of the Ffern Folk Foundation grant.

We did an interview with Ffern all about the project, why we are interested in folk practices, and what it’s got to do with food systems, environmental regeneration, and building communities.

We got a bit carried away discussing all these ideas and what connects them, so the version that was published on Ffern’s website had to be significantly redacted, but we wanted to share with you some of the full answers!

You can now read the full interview over on our website 💚

Sam & Lily were in Openshaw yesterday before the start of another Green Spaces Fund project in collaboration with the local church, and the school.

We cleared the site of litter and debris whilst we spoke to some local residents about how they’d like the space to take shape.

We discussed growing fruit and veg, having a space to enjoy barbecues together in the summer months and ensuring the space is dog friendly.

It’s exciting to see the site clean and tidy, ready for the next steps in this project and to see what we can help create for the local community here in Openshaw. 🌱
