Perimenopause is not always a midlife experience.

For Charlie, symptoms began just months after giving birth, but it took years to get answers.

Her story highlights how easily perimenopause can be missed, especially when symptoms overlap with postpartum recovery or other health conditions.

Trusted information matters. It helps people recognise symptoms earlier and feel more confident seeking support.

Thank you for sharing Paul’s story. We are so proud of him and his family for raising vital awareness of the impact of menopause on mental health.

This is Carys. She tragically died after suffering a decline in her mental health during the menopause 💔

Her loved ones remember her as outgoing and social with a silly sense of humour.

However, like many women, when Carys began the menopause the anxieties and worries which had previously been manageable became all consuming. She was struggling to sleep, overthinking, and her anxiety became much worse 😔

Her daughter, Alys, believes her mum's symptoms being managed earlier could've helped her. She thinks there needs to be more awareness from peri to menopausal age and GPs need to be better informed around the differences between the ageing woman and the ageing man.

She said: "Her passion was being a mum and that's the thing she cherished the most. She had this great nature of putting others ahead of her and effortlessly being an absolute supermum.

"Women can often carry a lot of anxiety and tend to worry and stress about things. She was always known to be a worrier and I think the menopause around that time it's with a shift of hormonal change, the symptoms worsened and were far more heightened and became unmanageable."

Carys' husband, Paul, embarked on a huge challenge - running the London Marathon to raise money for The Menopause Charity.

Paul added: "This is not an easy story to tell. But if sharing what happened to Carys helps another woman or another family, then it is the right thing to do. We miss her every day."

Congratulations Paul, what an achievement! ❤️ We are so sorry for your loss, RIP Carys 🕊️

Tomorrow, Ben Lomond will dazzle for The Menopause Charity.

Around 50 people will pull on their sequins and take on one of Scotland’s most popular Munros. The Sequin Climb, organised by Lucy Beale, is supporting The Menopause Charity by raising vital funds and awareness.

So far, the climbers have raised over £6,000 (and counting!) 🙌

We’re so grateful to everyone backing this challenge, and especially thankful for the brilliant support being shared by , who is cheering on the team.

Every step helps us continue to listen, inform and educate, ensuring people affected by menopause can access trusted information when they need it most.
