We just wanted to put a big spotlight on the wonderful Karen Bones - Prestwich Tesco Community Champion - for all the wonderful things she has done for Heaton Park Food Pantry.

Karen has supported us from day one, and over 3 years later, still makes sure that our shelves are well stocked. She has fought hard for a trolley to be place in the lobby of Prestwich Tesco as a donation point - a steady flow of stock that has kept our doors open to the community. We always look forward to her visits to the pantry and she always stops for a cuppa tea with volunteers and shoppers. She isn't just a champion, she's a massive supporter and our friend.

Thank you so much for everything you do for Heaton Park Food Pantry, Karen! You're one in a million.

A big thank you to everyone for our recent donations! It's been so great to have such generous community support!

Specific thank yous to Our Lady of Grace, MUSE, Vinci, the customers of Prestwich Tesco, Sparklife, the nice gentleman this morning, and of course the lovely Karen Bones.

We accept donations nomatter how great or small - any help is appreciated! Thank you so much - keep the donations coming in so we can continue to support those who need it in our community.

Stock Appeal

Our stock is low so we're asking for some help! In particular, we are very short on the following:

UHT milk (particularly blue milk)
Tinned Vegetables (sweetcorn, peas, carrots, tomatoes etc)
Sugar
Corned Beef
Coffee
Tea
Tuna
Pasta Sauces
Toilet Roll

Any help that you can give will be much appreciated. Donations can be placed in our donation point in Tesco Prestwich (thanks Karen!). You can also bring stuff to the pantry whenever it is open. Massive thank you to Sparklife for their donation to Heaton Park Food Pantry yesterday! Some of us will be popping in to their Communi-tea event tomorrow - maybe we'll see you there!

We took an evening out to celebrate our volunteers!

We brought volunteers from Heaton Park Holiday Lunch Club and Heaton Park Food Pantry together for a Thank You Meal. There were over 30 of us present and we really missed those who couldn't make it!

We also invited some lovely folks who have donated goods to us over the years - our pantry wouldn't be stocked without them!

We ate together, chatted together, completed a quiz together (thanks to John Pearcey!) and had a fabulous time. It was a lovely evening - good food, great company, and a lovely atmosphere. There was a real wilingness to do carry on doing lovely things for our community.

Many thanks to the lovely folks who brought the evening together, and thanks also to Bury VCFA for the little grant that helped this to happen.

MEMBERSHIP IS PAUSING

From Tuesday 3rd March we will not be taking any new registrations. All registered friends are still welcome to come and shop as normal.

The warm space café will still be open to everyone but shopping at the pantry will only be for registered friends.

Yesterday, we collected our 3rd trolley full from Morrisons Whitefield! Such a wonderful food drive!

Thank you so much to everyone who popped by to pop something into the donation point last week. And a massive thank you to Morrisons Whitefield Community Champion, Santosh for creating this opportunity! We have such a supportive and generous community!

All the food donations at Morrisons Whitefield this week will be going to us at Heaton Park Food Pantry! Hoorah! So grab a green bag (or other goodies), pay for it, and then drop it off at the donation point after the tills.

We kicked off this food drive today by setting up a little table, and a few of our lovely volunteers were present to talk to passersby about the work that we do. Look at them all here - such lovely faces!

We're so thankful to Santosh, Morrisons Whitefield Community Champion for arranging this collection. We're also thankful to every single person who shops at Morrisons - for stopping and chatting, for donating, or just by passing on our information. We love our community.

Just a little reminder that we're a Warm Space too!

Whenever the pantry is open, the Warm Space Cafe is open. You can pop in an grab a brew and a toasted teacake, or just hang out if you like! It's pay-as-you-can and you don't have to be a pantry user to visit. We'll have lovely volunteers there to greet you and show you around if you're new to us.

Tuesdays 3-5pm / Thursdays 9-11am. Everyone is welcome.
