✨ Support Our Half-Marathon Runner✨
In October, Saul Gore will be running the Manchester Half Marathon to raise vital funds for The Focus Foundation.

A proud Mancunian and passionate Manchester United fan, Saul is no stranger to setting himself goals. He has built a successful career and outside of work, Saul’s two biggest passions are football and his two gorgeous children. This October, he’ll be swapping the football pitch for the streets of Manchester as he takes on the 13.1-mile challenge in support of a charity that is particularly close to home.

“When my dad suggested I take part in the marathon and raise funds for Focus, I jumped at the opportunity. Dad is so passionate about his work and the charity, and the impact they have on members of our community. I want to be a part of that.”

Last night was something really special 💫

To mark International Women’s Day, Focus hosted our very first women’s-only challah bake— and what an incredible evening it was. Over 60 amazing women came together to mix, knead, braid and bake their own challahs.

There’s something so powerful about the process of making challah. From bringing simple ingredients together, to kneading the dough, separating the challah, and carefully braiding each loaf — every step carries meaning, tradition and intention. The room was filled with laughter, conversation, and the beautiful energy that comes from women gathering together.

Watching dozens of challahs being braided side by side was such a special sight — a reminder of the strength of community and the power of shared traditions.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the night so warm, meaningful and memorable. Here’s to more evenings of connection, inspiration and sisterhood 💛✨

Last month, The Focus Foundation proudly hosted its inaugural Charity Golf Day at Dunham Golf & Country Club.

The Charity Golf Day saw ninety enthusiastic golfers take to the course, participating in teams and engaging in exciting rounds of "Beat the Pro" and "Nearest to the Pin." Following their enjoyable day on the greens, participants were treated to a delicious BBQ, followed by a raffle and auction featuring generously donated items and creating many happy winners.

Thanks to the tremendous efforts of our golfers, sponsors, and donors, the event raised an impressive £54,000. We are incredibly grateful to everyone who contributed to this success.

✨ Shabbat stories ✨

Samuel Taylor Coleridge said that “friendship is like a sheltering tree.” And that’s exactly what members of Focus and the wider community need right now.

This Shabbat, Rebecca; Focus member hosted 2 of her friends for dinner. She spent time with her support staff cooking a full Shabbat dinner and they had a lovely evening.

While there’s so much sadness in the world, we thought we’d take a moment to share what our members did to celebrate Sukkot last week.

Focus members celebrated by having a BBQ hosted by Rabbi Walker and his incredible family. Our very own senior support worker Nigel headed up the BBQ and it was a joyous occasion for all our members to celebrate together!

Everyone at Focus would like to congratulate Mark Nadler; Focus member, who competed in the Special Olympics Yorkshire & Humberside National Cycling Competition last week. He won 2 bronzes and a gold! 🥉🥉🥇.

We are all immensely proud of his achievements so far and are looking forward to supporting him to set and reach new goals!
