Waterway Recovery Group North West Join volunteers helping local canal societies in their work to restore the derelict waterways of the

Waterway Recovery Group (WRG) NW is part of the wider Waterway Recovery Group movement - the active volunteer restoration arm of the Inland Waterways Association (IWA). ‘WRGies’ as they’re known, come in all shapes, sizes and ages - from those on the Family Camps, to those 18-80s who attend the regular week-long Canal Camps, as well as more local weekend and day digs. Canal Societies previously su

pported by the NW Group include the Manchester Bolton and Bury, Hollinwood (Oldham), Sankey (St Helens) and Lancaster Societies; and, further afield, the Cromford, Chesterfield, Montgomery, Uttoxeter and Hatherton & Lichfield Societies. Volunteers can get involved as much or as little as they want, and there is the opportunity to acquire specialist skills and knowledge.
