Grounding our work in our pop-up adventure playground model, we work internationally, providing children of all ages and abilities with opportunities to recognise, explore, and express their natural play instincts on their own terms. We are a charity, aiming to give children around the world opportunities to direct their own play, every day.

REFLECTIONS

In the Autumn of 2011, Pop-Ups Morgan set up our first ever Pop-Up Play Shop. It was in a shopping mall and right next to an escalator.

Children and their families could pop in whenever the shop was open, and they could do whatever they wanted. Sometimes it would be just sitting and chatting. Sometimes it would be blowing up balloon and popping them. Other times we all painted on the wall.

The Pop-Up Play Shop concept was born and we wrote a whole resource pack on shortly afterwards too. Wowee, it doesn't feel like 14 years ago. But it was and it is still awesome.

"In times of hardship, the importance of play becomes even more vital. It reconnects us with ourselves, with each other and with the world. Through play, we heal – relationally, emotionally, politically."

Throwback to a blogpost we wrote a while back that has an accompanying video! We may have written this a while ago, but it's definitely still relevant today!

REFLECTIONS

In July of 2017, 3 playworkers set off in one little yellow car to drive across Canada. This was to be Pop-Up Adventure Play's 3rd multi-stop tour, and the yellow car's second epic journey across North America.

We stopped at 18 locations and met loads of amazing play advocates, and it was around this time 7 years ago (gosh) that this tour was coming to an end. We saw a baby moose, ate countless dishes of poutine, and talked about playwork to anyone who wanted to hear about it. It turns out there are a lot of amazing play advocates in Canada who wanted to hear more about playwork and how best to integrate it in to their work - we are bowled over by their passion and love for the work.

Here are some photos highlights - enjoy!
