🎨 We’ve been blown away by the amazing artwork created by the children and young people at Kids. Their creativity, imagination, and talent are clear to see, and it’s wonderful to see their masterpiece come to life. ✨

Meet Kate who runs the 422 Pantry!

❓How did you hear about 422?

422 is a project of Manchester Vineyard (MV) and I am a part of MV.

❓A little about your history here:

I started volunteering at the Pantry after it first started. At that point not all of the restoration of the building had been finished, it was only the cafe running, and crucially - there was no lift!😱 I now oversee the running of the Pantry, and as it has developed to what it is today, along with the many moves it’s had around the building!

❓An interesting fact about you?

I used to be in a wedding/function band, so I love a good dance and sing song, especially at a wedding.

❓What do you do in the team and any recent accomplishments?

My role is looking after the Pantry at 422, making sure it runs smoothly and everyone who comes along feels welcome.

❓What do you do in your spare time?

My happy place is in the garden and there’s nothing I love more than pottering about out there! I love to see things grow and flourish. I also love a bit of sewing and DIY!

❓Favourite work snack?

Biscuits - the answer is ALWAYS biscuits.

❓Go to karaoke song?

Nothing like a bit of 9 to 5 by Dolly Parton

❓Dream holiday?

Guadalupe, in the Caribbean. I’ve aways wanted to visit the Caribbean and it’s where one of my favourite TV shows is filmed, Death in Paradise!

422 Community Hub is all about creating a welcoming, compassionate and connected community — a place where people can feel they belong, feel supported and feel at home. Alongside its community café, the Hub runs a number of fantastic projects supporting local people. (Chatty Cafe Scheme⁠)

And now they’re joining The Chatty Café Scheme to help bring even more people together through conversation. 💛

422 Community Hub is looking for a friendly volunteer to help host its Chatter & Natter table.

You don’t need any special experience — just a little time, a friendly face and a willingness to welcome people and help get conversations started. Full training and support are provided by The Chatty Café Scheme.

Our Chatter & Natter tables are all about creating opportunities for people to connect, helping to reduce loneliness and social isolation through something as simple as a friendly chat over a cuppa. ☕💬

What an incredible way to finish the school year!

Our Kids' Summer Party was a huge success, with over 150 children and their families joining us for an afternoon of fun, laughter, and celebration.

The hall was transformed into a carnival, complete with exciting games, popcorn, ice pops, music, dancing, and a photographer to capture all the wonderful memories. It was fantastic to see so many families coming together and enjoying the celebrations.

A massive thank you to our amazing volunteers from the University of North Carolina in the United States. They spent Thursday building the carnival games and decorating the hall, helping to create such a fun and welcoming space for everyone. We simply couldn't have done it without their hard work, energy, and enthusiasm.

Thank you to everyone who came along, volunteered, and helped make the event so special. We loved celebrating with you and can't wait to see you at our next event!

🤩 Exciting news! The 422 Cafe is ready for it's next chapter...

📅 Back in 2021, thanks to generous grants, donations and an excellent group of volunteers, the 422 Cafe opened it's doors to the local community in partnership with a third party provider, whilst the rest of 422 was still undergoing extensive renovations.

Since then, we've welcomed thousands of people through the doors of 422, and the Cafe has served as a space to gather, share a meal and get to know one another.

Since 2024, we've been able to reshape the look and feel of the space, replacing the furniture, adding some excellent artwork, new kitchen equipment and improved signage, and the Cafe is now a beautiful place to be.

We know this space has a huge amount of potential to offer, so we're now looking to partner with the right organisation to:

☕ Operate the 422 Cafe
🍴 Establish a fantastic events catering service and;
🏡 Collaborate with us on projects that seek to serve the local community

🤝 We're looking for an established food provider who:
- is passionate about people and food
- has a proven track record of delivering excellent service and;
- loves to be in the heart of the community
