📣 Things got intense!📣

This week’s School of Curiosity tested both our creative and critical thinking skills as the whole class - WENT TO COURT!

That’s right - you are witnessing actual footage taken from, what most people are calling, the trial of the century!

Students divided into prosecution, defence, jury, and judges (as well as a couple of courtroom artists) to figure out - who shaved Elmpenny’s cat?🐈‍⬛

Elmpenny said it was his neighbour Stew.
Stew said he loves cats (with chips) and wouldn’t shave one.

Questions were asked. Alibis tested. And in the end - Stew was found guilty of unwanted cat hair theft.

His punishment ? Fund Elmpenny’s costs to get cat hair plugs from Turkey.

Good work all round I’d say.

📣 New storytelling show announced 📣

Flower folklore and puppetry combine in this brand new, blooming brilliant storytelling show by The league of curiosity and 🌸

Pipit, a lost and featherless little bird, learns what it means to belong, to grow, and to trust the magic of who they truly are! 🌼

Told through story, song, and movement, this gentle puppetry show is perfect for children aged 4-8 and their families. 🌷

Performed within the blooming wonderful urban garden that is 🌻

📣And we’re back!📣

The School of Curiosity opens its doors once again - ready for a summer term of creativity, imagination and (obvs) storytelling!

We started by crafting our very own ‘Constitution of Curiosity’ - identifying the ways we can work best together - how we want to be treated and how we like to work.
Once made, it was sealed with red wax and ‘sworn upon’ .

Then….

We were privileged enough to receive a copy of CircleTales - the adventure Storyteling game from !

And it was GREAT!

An engaging, intuitive, and (most importantly) fun way to create and share new stories. The students loved it and it’ll be a game we play a lot we reckon!

Especially after crafting a story all about:

🗺️ an ancient map
🏝️to an unknown island
💥🏛️ to gain the powers of an Ancient Greek goddess
✨ a journey through starlight
🐍a hidden pit of vipers
👻 and a whole lot of ghosts!

So, yeah, a big huge thank you to !

🌷Spring has sprung🌷

To celebrate the Spring Equinox the School of Curiosity students created brand new spring rituals.

For each one we selected a golden object representing a piece of solidified sun.

This was the Soring’s blessing.

In return we offered up a gift - felt, thought, and drawn. This gift was giving as part of a ritual. A ritual including :

🐍banishing the winter snake (while remembering the bones it devoured!)
📣dancing the land warm again
🥚pledging to keep the egg of spring warm from winter
👑crowning the queen rabbit …

And many more!

From the heartfelt to the sublime, the ridiculous to the creative - we had it all!

It is always a privilege to see our students minds at work!

✨Which stories await you?✨

This week at The School of Curiosity, our young scholars crafted their very own fortune telling story cards!

Based on our own story cards - illustrated by - the young people identified powerful symbols, uncovered their meanings, and then illustrated a series of tarot-lite cards.

Once crafted - we told our futures !

🦁the hair from a lion’s mane symbolises strength
👁️ the severed eye will bring you strife!
🍁a personal addiction awaits with the leaf
🫧 the bubble represents the impermanence of it all
🔥and we will all become aware of the horrors of the world - symbolised by hell fire.

Needless to say - this week’s story work was powerful! And clearly our young people are keenly aware of what is happening in the world.

It really was a moving session!

📣Glorious news, Fantabulous news!📣

The League of Curiosity are over the proverbial moon to announce that the mega-boss, superstar that is Jess Wild has become ….. a company Director!

Whoop whoop 🙌

Jess started as a project participant - which led into her becoming our creative workshop facilitator - and now she’ll be running the company!

Jess’ role will be all about working with our community and stakeholders as well as developing our visual storytelling (she is an amazing visual artist after all).

We’re well happy.

And a big thank you to for putting Jess in touch with us in the first place!

Oh, and you know it’s official when you have a bead bracelet saying so (one of our wonderful young people ran their own bracelet making session at our Curiosity Club - Jo Jess made this! ☝️ )

✨Have a story waiting to be told?✨

On March 14th, The League of Curiosity are opening up their Storytelling Hub for an afternoon of curiously creative story work.

Whether you’re brand new to storytelling, gently finding your voice, or already telling tales, Stories in a Day invites you to develop, create and play with a story.

By the end of the session, you’ll be ready (if you choose!) to share your story at that evening’s Stories from the Floor event hosted - an open mic storytelling night built on celebration, encouragement, and community.

Plus, if you’ve already signed up to perform - this workshop gives you a chance to explore your story further - in a supportive, creative space.

The workshop is FREE - with limited availability - booking is essential (link in bio).

🕯️Drawing stories by candle light 🕯️

What a marvellous turn out for our first Secret Storytelling Club X Life Drawing event at Bury Art Musuem!

A huge thank you to all who gathered with us - to take the journey into story while illustrating imagination!

The pieces created were stunning!

It was an evening to warm the cockles, ignite imaginations, and temper our spirits!

We couldn’t have done this event without the support of through funding from - we are intebted!

And of course - we have the best team ! Look at those cheery faces!

An open mic storytelling night for all! Whether you’re a seasoned storyteller, a complete novice, or simply an enthusiastic listener - the League welcomes you!
